Being a deep threat is great, but when it is all you can do it will get stopped quick.

So how did Desean put up 73 catches for over 1100 yards (regular season and postseason combined)? It isn't like he's some guy coming out of nowhere. Teams tried to stop him and did poorly. So obviously your idea that he'll be stopped "quick" is wrong. I think you fail to grasp just how impressive his performance is from a rookie WR.

If it weren't for the two completely different offensive attacks (eagles passing 70% vs what I'm expecting to be a predominant rushing attack in Dallas) I'd be willing to say miles Austin would match Djax #s for this year.

Philly: Pass 606 attempt, Runs 427. % pass 58.7%

Dallas: Pass 547 attempts, Runs 401. %pass 57.7 %

They passed 1% more than we did last year.

Ill go on record and say he (maclin) will be an average receiver in the NFL.

I predicted bust before the draft but it's hard to not be somewhat productive in an offense as unbalanced as Phillys.

I guess we'll see. I think by year 3 he'll be ahead of Djax...for what that's worth. Who knows for sure.
------------
As far as the draft this year went, I actually like the value that Jacksonville got.
Mike Thomas 4th round (pick 107)
Jarret Dillard 5(144)
Tiquan Underwood 7(253)
I bet Thomas, Dillard, and maybe even Underwood stick. Of course, Jax had the worst WR group in the league last year, so making their team should not be tough...though they did add Torry Holt. I feel for David Garrard sometimes.:

He is what he is, a solid #2 WR in the NFL, he will never be a true #1. All I'm saying is RoyWill is the better WR. Is Jackson good? Sure, but not RW11 good, he's even as good as the cowboy killer SM89 and he is a #2 as well.

10% more passes...but point well taken. This year should be different

That 1 percent is about 2 games worth.

Who is the #1 TE in the NFC? I can't open the link.:

Witten is.

But they have him #2 in the league for fantasy only...barely behind Dallas Clark.

Take a look at what the kid did the last half of last year, a bunch of nothing. The regular season that is, I would post it but I'm onmy phone. Like I said, 1 dimmensonal, and it got stopped quick. Consider me unimpressed with his 2tds. Miles Austin > DJax

No, that 1% is about their offense being more effective and on the field more. The suggestion was that they are seriously pass oriented (70%) - clearly, they aren't much more than we are.

Yeah but you're talking about a team, the Cowboys, who went off the deep end in passing last year compared to a team, the Eagles, that were focusing on trying to be more balanced.

If I recall correctly, before the eagles began focusing on their rush attack their run pass distribution was above 65/35 favoring the pass.

We threw 531 times in 2007 compared to 419 rushes. 56%.

Not a big difference and one likely explained by the fact that in 2007 we weren't playing from behind as much.

Eagles passed 57.8% of the time in 2007. So they were hardly "more balanced" at 58.7% in 2008

Man, if Miles turns out to be better than DJax, then we have something. Miles a complete unkonw right now so it's very hard to gauge him...let's hope you end up being right:pray:

It's VERY hard for a rookie WR to contirbute. The league had 2-3 do well last year, but historically speaking what DJax did was relatively great.

You spelled the word "spelled" wrong. The irony.
Actually, "spelt" is perfectly acceptable in the English language and both words are generally looked upon as being interchangeable.
