We will not get a WC, nor any team in the NFCE will. Unless some teams collapse and the East teams get hot. Most likely Vikings and Falcons lead that WC race, with Saints and Seahawks right behind them. But not concerend with that for this thread.
So looking at what needs to happen to win the East.

We are 2-5, and must beat Philly. We need to go 7-2 the rest of the way. even if we go 6-3 and finish 8-8. The other 3 teams need to drop 4 games.
If we can beat Eagles, and Commanders twice, we will a 5-1 Division record, and the tie breakers that way if we finish tied at 8-8 0r 9-7 with any team.

So looking ahead at the schedules. Can this happen?
Dallas - Eagles, at TB, Panthers, at Commanders, at GB, Jets, at Bills, Commanders.............need 6 wins, Eagles, Commanders 2 times, Bills, TB, Jets. Hopefully steal one from GB or Panthers
Giants - at TB, NE, at Commanders, Jets, at Miami, Panthers, at Vikings, Eagles....are there 4 losses in there, NE, Vikings, Panthers, then drop one against Eagles or Commanders or another team
Eagles - at Cowboys, Miami, TB, at Lions, at NE, Bills, Cardinals, Commanders, at Giants...are there 4 losses here, Cowboys, NE, Cardinals, drop one against Commanders or Giants or another team
Commanders - at NE, Saints, at Panthers, Giants, Cowboys, at Bears, Bills, at Eagles, at Cowboys...for sure 4 losses in there

So we have to be a game better than the Eagles and the Commanders, and with those games against them.
Giants must drop 2 games for us to catch them.
Then if all stays even, we will take the division.

However, that is much easier said than done, as Dallas has not proven it can win these next 2 games without Romo. Maybe Dez will have a better impact against the Eagles. I question why Butler was inactive, he could have been used to stretch the field, get Dez open underneath, or any player. Then Whitehead would not have had his penalty. More questionable player decisions by the coaching staff there.

Any way, that is a look ahead. What do you all think, is this possible, or wishful thinking [hopeful]. Probably a bit of both.

My prediction:

Dallas 8-8
New York 8-8
Philly 7-9
Washington 5-11

Dallas wins on division record.

Hope you are right, and it gives more reasons to win Division games, and also highlight the need for a real backup/future Romo replacement.

Just win this weekend and we will talk more....I have little faith in this bunch to adjust enough to Cassell's strength's ( does he have some ?) enough to beat a average Philly team. We should win but who knows?

We have Carolina, Jets, Bills and Packers still ahead of us. All of these teams are good pass rush teams. I think we are going to be lucky to be able to win two of these, depending on how game ready/healthy Tony is upon his return. None of those are gimmies for us. When we struggle, it's usually not against really good offenses. It's usually against really good defenses. We could really use some wins while Tony is out.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants or Eagles make it to 9-7.

I dont think either Commander game is a gimme. In fact this team traditionally struggles against them.

Please with these two teams. With a healthy Romo we smoke both of those teams.

I keep hearing about what an easy schedule we have when Romo comes back. I'm not seeing it. We will likely lose to Carolina and Green Bay. Miami is a toss up, especially with Romo just coming back. The Jets and Bills are not gimmes. And Washington always gives us fits.

And of course, that assumes we can win the next two, which is highly unlikely.

Our playoff chances have got to be in the single digits at this point.

Thats a great breakdown of the situation. ......but man, thats a lot of "right" , "ball bouncing the right way", "good luck" that has to happen in a year, when we havent been getting those breaks...........

I don't think so, not saying the Cowboys aren't a better team than those two, but the Patriots didn't smoke either of those teams and they are the most efficient offense in the league.

I think they need ot just win a game first before we talk playoffs and I think 5 and 11 or 6 and 10 will be there final record they will draft near the top five this is not a very good team the qb is but the rest not so much

I really want to try to win this division and make the playoffs because I look at the NFC and there is no one we can't beat with a healthy Romo. Getting into the playoffs this year and you have a chance to get to the Super Bowl. Years past I and some others would say that as wishful thinking but there is a legitimate chance if we can win this division. The wild card teams most likely are going to be the Vikings and Falcons. Hosting a wild card game against either of those teams would have me extremely confident.

To the "let's win a game first" crowd, or the "this is for desperate what ever" fans.
We all know this, we all know we need to win a game first. But it is also reality of the situation. But is is a scenario. Nothing wrong with looking at it and discussing it.
If you can't add any thing but those comments, then start your own thread about...needing to win a game...
