Plenty of DII players have had outstanding, even HoF careers in this league. We'll know as time goes on...

That's true
But it is harder to get your shot
Doesn't mean he can't be the next great RB but to get that shot he is really going to have to shine especially with 3 spots that are close to being locks

What's it going to be then, eh?

Maybe it is just me but I sense a little bit of propaganda with Johnson. He is the body that can play right now and I am sure he has a lot of people rooting for him.

Should be interesting to see how he plays versus the Chargers.

If he runs hard, takes what is given him and can pass protect, he could have a role here.

I do see the irony though. People have blasted Murray for his lack of "speed", yet they embrace a player they have probably never seen play who quite honestly had a very pedestrian 40 at the combine.

I really hope his nickname does not become "Gus The Bus".

If McFadden or Randle were playing Thursday, we wouldn't be hearing a thing about Johnson. He is in the forefront of the media members minds and so they're asking questions about him they normally wouldn't ask... and are then writing articles about him they normally wouldn't write.

When Romo is asked about him, of course he's going to say what he said. He isn't going to say anything negative about him. We have heard Romo impressed with team mates before... it didn't sound like this. He was just saying stuff to answer the media's questions.

Maybe he's good... maybe he's not... but we can't tell anything at this point. Now if he is impressive all pre season long, then we will have something to talk about.

If this was a regular season game instead of PS game #1, both McFadden and Randle would be playing. LOL at the media trying to make it look like Dallas doesn't have any RB's.

He could very easily play faster than his time. What's equally important is does he have better vision than Murray?

And I like how you're creating your own narrative.

The 2nd post in this thread asks if he can be our "power back."

Romo talks about him having "thump."

Posters in this thread are wondering if he can make the team, yet alone take over for Murray.

But it must be easy to be right when you get to set the agenda for the other side's argument.

I don't know, Short Bus just sounds... special.

Henceforth I shall only refer to the player previously called Gus Johnson as Short Bus. It's like the artist formerly known as Prince (before he became Prince again).

Screw it... I'm with you. Short-bus it is.

Speaking for myself, I never, ever had a problem with Murray's speed. I didn't see it as a problem. It wasn't a problem for a lot of other NFL backs that lacked pure speed.

Nor do I see him getting run down from behind as "leaving meat on the bone" in any way shape or form.

My problem with Murray is, and has been his poor vision and run instincts. Missing cut backs, not seeing running lanes, and not using the best angles are all what bothered me and why Murray did indeed leave a lot of meat on the bone.

IMO most of this forum didn't think Murray's lack of top end speed was any problem. A few mentioned it but most know the real issue isn't speed.

I mean honestly did you expect Romo to say: That guy has no chance whatsoever. Just a camp body...next question. ???
I hope Goodell doesn't find out Romo fibbed. Could be a 4 game suspension.
