He could very easily play faster than his time. What's equally important is does he have better vision than Murray?

And I like how you're creating your own narrative.

On what imaginary planet does a back without vision run for 1845 yards? I really wish some of you people would just think about it for a second.

Even Emmitt Smith, the greatest of all time could not do that.

I am not saying Murray is an all timer. He had an all time year. But yet, we see people diminishing it left and right and then to make it easier to dismiss, suggesting it was a fluke born out of the fact our OL is great.

Honestly, it is an insult to both Murray and the OL to suggest that they didn't work together to make that special year happen last year.

The 2nd post in this thread asks if he can be our "power back."

Romo talks about him having "thump."

Posters in this thread are wondering if he can make the team, yet alone take over for Murray.

But it must be easy to be right when you get to set the agenda for the other side's argument.

Not setting any agenda.

The agenda here is that this undrafted nobody is now in play. See my post above. Let's see what he does against San Diego.

Speaking for myself, I never, ever had a problem with Murray's speed. I didn't see it as a problem. It wasn't a problem for a lot of other NFL backs that lacked pure speed.

It wasn't a problem. It was people finding fault to make themselves feel better about the fact the team felt they couldn't afford him.

If McFadden or Randle were playing Thursday, we wouldn't be hearing a thing about Johnson. He is in the forefront of the media members minds and so they're asking questions about him they normally wouldn't ask... and are then writing articles about him they normally wouldn't write.

When Romo is asked about him, of course he's going to say what he said. He isn't going to say anything negative about him. We have heard Romo impressed with team mates before... it didn't sound like this. He was just saying stuff to answer the media's questions.

Maybe he's good... maybe he's not... but we can't tell anything at this point. Now if he is impressive all pre season long, then we will have something to talk about.

If this was a regular season game instead of PS game #1, both McFadden and Randle would be playing. LOL at the media trying to make it look like Dallas doesn't have any RB's.

Well, we don't have a healthy one. And we don't have a dependable one, given each player's documented history.

Sorry, this is not media created fable.

We have a lot of questions at RB.

And zero answers going into our first exhibition game.

Our identity last season was the run game. It resulted in Romo's best year in a long time, perhaps ever.

But this just must be the media taking off with something without basis.

I went and watched highlights of Johnson. He's got good balance and a build that allowed him to shrug off hits (at the D2 level). He does not seem to have much initial quickness or quick-cutting ability. I'd expect him to bounce off a few tackles and fight for yardage, but not be able to do much when a small gap needs the back to shoot it or when he needs adjust to find a secondary gap. I don't think he has the burst/quick-cutting ability to do that, but maybe he'll surprise me.

There's always room on the Short Bus, you know you want in.

I've considered most of those who've thought our running game would be OK since we lost Murray and replaced him with nothing to be on the short bus.

My expectations of Johnson if he were to make the roster would be 50 carries ( goalline, 3rd and 1) for about 150 yards and 3 to 5 TDs. And that would be extremely good production from him

My hope is they really have a strong feeling Randle is a quality 300 carry back, and wind up right

What Im afraid of is that they over sold themselves on Randle and the offensive.

Im also not buying the RBBC anymore as the players they had have proven unreliable and they have done nothing in the way of a contingency

Funny you brought up Emmitt Smith.... The Goat who said Murray left yards on the field.

Take it up with him.

Romo's recommendation is probably about the best acknowledgment that he could have gotten as yet. He has certainly been around long enough to sense talent when he sees it. Hopefully, Gus will continue to assert his abilities as he has thus far. If he manages to put forth one of his best efforts vs. San Diego, don't be surprised nor shocked to see him catch on with the Cowboys fans like wildfire. Right now, he would be an answer to many a fervent prayer -- mine being one of 'em. Go get 'em, Gus!
