22nd against the run last year. The team has more than enough edge guys. Getting the best running stopping DT in the draft seems like a no brainer.

Given their recent success in the first round I am not sure how anyone can argue with their choice.

Agreed. I'm really surprised, I never thought we'd go for a DT in the 1st round, but I'm all in! Mazi Smith was a great choice for the Cowboys!

I like the pick. Drafting a DT run stopper is never a sexy pick in the first rd, but getting gashed up the middle down after down isn’t sexy either. I do hope we can get LaPorta in the 2nd though.
