Draft Day ***NFL Draft Day Three thread***

NFL.com trade tracker:

Cowboys trade for first pick of sixth round

COWBOYS RECEIVE:

CHIEFS RECEIVE:

  • Round 5, 2024
Jerry is anticipating we will pick last in that round so essentially it’s a 6th rounder, lol.

Liked the entire draft up to this point. Unless Dallas gets comp picks they now have no choices in rounds 5 and 6 next year (6th to Houston in the Cooks trade).

Chiefs' Twitter reporting the trade is only for next year's 5th. Dallas still picks at 212 this round.
That's the norm
1 year out, one round (or 1/2 round) earlier

Philly did the same thing earlier today

Eric Scott, Jr. DB, USM

Height: 6-2, Weight: 202

Grade: C-

Long, explosive cornerback who's best as a linear athlete. Stiffness pops when changing directions. The Cowboys like picking some obscure CBs. Wasn't firmly on the draft radar. (Chris Trapasso)

-

He's got teh length and Dan loves teh length.

Honestly...this may be the draft that gets McClay and McCarthy fired. As a team...can't think of a team having a worse draft.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

OK…ticket just corrected itself.

Norm said basically Dallas gave up a possible late 5th for the 1st pick in the 6th this year.
Maybe a 6 pick difference. Then Norm joked…KC May think Dallas will collapse and it will be a high 5th round.

Dan Quinn has waaaaaaaaay too much say in our war room.

I don't know why you would listen to a guy who told you Nahshon Wright was worthy of a 3rd round pick.
Scott can't be that bad..he already has the "Takes inconsistent angles to tackle WR after the catch" on his resume

Strengths
  • Big, long cornerback with untapped press potential.
  • Explosive tester with 39 1/2-inch vertical leap and 11-foot-1 broad jump.
  • Looks to jump underneath routes from zone shuffle.
  • Bodies up targets and challenges the catch.
  • Squeezes vertical routes and will find football when he’s in position.
  • Quick to jump in off the edge when diagnosing run.
Weaknesses
  • Transition fluidity is missing from his game.
  • Has trouble mirroring release fakes and route breaks.
  • Takes inconsistent angles to tackle receivers after the catch.
  • Scheme-specific capabilities limit his fit with some teams.
  • Needs to play with better discipline as run defender.

To make a trade, this late, tells me he has been on Quinn's radar for quite a while and he didn't want to lose him. Again, I'll trust Quinn here.....
He will be a practice squad player at best. Do they quit on a 2nd rounder or a 3rd rounder already?

You can’t honestly sit there and say that you would prefer this guy you could get in the 7th or an UDFA over an injured guy like JL Skinner or Andrew Vorhees? It’s a perfect stash pick for next year.

It just wreaks of the typical Dallas “we know better than 31 other teams picks”
