I think the Mazi pick was a great one. I really don't know what they were doing today though.

I like Overshown in isolation if we didn't have other pressing needs.

The TE pick, I guess they did that to appease Mike. Otherwise, there's zero justification of making that pick with O'Cyrus on the board, especially when Philly just added Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith. Are we going to expect some 5th round project Olineman to step in and handle business? If Schoonmaker was some elite TE, I could understand making the pick, but you don't pass up a great O lineman for a solid TE.
The tight end is the best blocking tight end in the draft and he can catch the ball too and has enough speed to take it downfield as well. They have a vision on how to use the speedy linebacker on defense and special teams.

Based on pre-draft projections by Lindy's Athlon, Kioer, etal, all three picks were picked too early.
Drafting for need instead of bpa, brings just more mediocrity for the long term. Still underwhelmed
Lol, Smith would have been long gone. 29 to the Saints or 31 to the Chiefs.

Honestly very iffy pick but very Cowboys. I can see him being a helpful piece this season, mostly as a blocker.
I heard he was rated one of if not rated THE #1 blocking TE in the draft. So yeah he's a blocker, but he also has size and speed.

So far I like the Mazi Smith pick well enough considering how wiped out the rest of the board was.

I really dislike the Schoonmaker pick. He wasn’t very productive in college, was an average tester at the combine, and when he was selected I really do think there were better players on the board. The 2nd round picks around here drive me up the wall. Total head scratchers and big reaches most of the time. Probably would have rather had Sanders in this slot.

Overshown is a good player and I like what he brings to the table. He has shown great ability in coverage and has a knack for making the right play. He was productive during his college career and was 1st team all Big-12 this season. With that being said, this feels like yet another significant reach with most media outlets having projected him as a 4th or 5th rounder.

We’ll see how the rest of this draft goes, but so far it’s pretty meh in my opinion. I’m hoping they draft Bradford out of LSU in the 4th to get some much needed help on the OL.

From what I've seen it sounds like he's just what Dallas was looking for. Excellent blocker, good size, good hands, good speed.
WHAT? That does it!! He's a HORRIBLE REACH!!!!

Yup, such a horrible thing. Getting what the Cowboys need? That's not how we win the draft bowl.

I give this draft a 0 out of 0. No idea what this all means. I drank tonight, and literally gave less into this all than the Jones boys did. So, my 0 is smarter the they are. You are welcome.

If we are actually active in Free Agency and try to get a playmaker, then I wouldn't mind us drafting who we did today. If we go bargain bin hunting again, we're in huge trouble.

It has been a great draft so far ....... Hopefully there will still be some starting guards tomorrow.

Schoomaker is one of the better athletes at TE in the draft. His RAS is like 16th out of 1100 TEs over the last 30 years. He's also one of the fastest TEs in the draft and he has the best 3C out of all the major TE prospects. In no way is he an "average tester." I thought he was drafted a little too high based on pre-draft rankings, but he wouldn't have been there at 90. Jax took Brenton Strange 3 picks later (a much bigger reach) and you have to believe Schoonmaker would have likely gone there.

Overshown was drafted almost on the money according to the legit draft publications. Most had him right around 90.

Dallas drafts better than Philly. They don’t have issues finding players.

You should go back to about 2014 and look at Howie’s first round picks.

And everybody watches SEC games. They’re the best.
Look,
I'll never ascend to the Zone wide respectability level you've attained here and we've had classy conversations in the past.
But Roseman messed up with the Reagor pick a few years back and learned from it. It's all good you toe the company line for this Dallas drafting shtick but I'd prefer Philly's last 10 years of winning football games with their roster as compared to Dallas's with theirs.

If winning playoff games means tweaking your roster towards an SEC drafting bias then that's what I would do too.

That's just me and my opinion.
I could care less if all the draft picks are Hall of Famers if it ain't translating to post season success.

Philadelphia seems to be the favorite team on a Dallas forum. This fanbase continues to get worse, as the months go by.

Hopefully, with better playcalling and execution from the offense, we might have more talk about the team for which this forum was created.

basically I and most of you would have drafted differently than the jones boys.
But I am ok with waiting to see if and when they play, and how they play, before saying they are meh or no good, or good picks.

I would have traded up to get gibbs, if I could, and the TE , would rather have the notre dame guy, ,mayers. and maybe the mazi DT.

That would be 3 good players, better than 7-8 meh guys.
Get 3 starters, all impact players, and areas of need, and to me that would be a good draft.

no not true, it is just that phil has a way better FO, and it shows on the field, in results , nfc champs, Coaches, and lately in the draft and FA.
Phil FO is not only way way better than dallas FO, they are imo top 5 in the NFL.

They found a young HC, instead of a old past his prime HC, and at first I thought the guy was another moron, but He has changed my mind.
Phil was behind dallas, in 21, but closing, and then in 22 just blew by dallas.

I think they win the div again this season.

The inability to accept that The Dallas Way is not and has not been working by both a mod here and several Zone posters is just another juvenile "we're victims or go root for another team" childishness.

To those few I say grow up and accept truthful criticism. It's called being a mature adult.
