Why do sad, pathetic people always turn everything into discrimination or moral beliefs.

This isn't about either of those, it is about a standard uniform appearance, nothing more.

I think there are uniform rules about what wristbands, headbands, socks, etc. that players are allowed to wear.

It is about a neat and standard uniform appearance.

Sorry unless you want a huge lawsuit on your hands then the only way you can justify making people have short hair is if you can prove it is a safety hazard. If you can't say it is for safety reasons then people can claim it is an ethnic hair style and claim discrimination. In case you haven't noticed more and more brothas are wearing cornrows in the corperate world. I have an great idea for all you people who dont' like long hair. How about you stop putting your own morals, beliefs and likes/dislikes off on others. kthxbye

LOL, Welcome to America buddy. The Simple fact is the NFL is anal about Uniforms and yet they let the oversized mullets hang out covering the uniform's number and name in some instances.

So if you have a tatoo that is ethnic and your forced to cover it up thats discrimination? The simple fact is there is a dresscode to make people "Uniform" when there is something distracting from that, it is no longer uniform.

The NFL fines for unsanctioned additions to the uniform. If you want long hair I have no problem if it is confined within your helmet or does no compromise the view of the name and number of the player. But you can be sure if an NFL logo was in the same spot on the back as it is on the front chest players would be FORCED to cut their hair. And hair long enough can restrict the view of Refs for calls on players :laugh1:

You must completly misunderstand what America is all about. Freedom of choice, Freedom of Religeon, Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Speech. You completely misunderstand the reason for the NFL's rules for appearace. It is PURELY business reasons. They make the players wear everything that is sactioned by the NFL because they don't want the players to get on the side endorsements. The NFL wants to control all the money flow into the league, they could care less about How players wear their hair or what tatoo's the players have. Your argument that the hair can obstruct the officials view is weak at best. There is no logic behind it.

WV Cowboy, thanks for the input from the Hatfields and McCoy's, we understand that they should know what sad and pathetic people are all about. FYI the UNIFORM is standard, it is the personal grooming habits that are not. This is not the Military buddy.

Where one hails from does not concern me, but I just get tired of people bringing up the same old tired cry of "discrimination", or "don't shove your morals down my throat."

They need to quit whining and just hold up their end of the conversation.

I'm not out to make everyone agree with me, I just stated that I preferred that the NFL made a rule to limit hair to shoulder length.

If you don't agree, that's fine.

I think it is just a matter of time before a suit company offers to put a team logo on a suitcoat, similiar to what the triplets wore Monday night.
Problem is, most suit companies wouldn't think that doing that would help them much as not too many folks would go out and buy them...but I bet it isn't long until Nike markets a line of Business Wear and then you'll see the coaches able to wear a suit

I like the 'long ratty' hair on the guys who are currently wearing it in the NFL (not everyone can wear it and look so good). Polamalu is drop dead gorgeous in it. Maybe almost as hot as Ricky Williams was when he had his dreads. These men are young and attractive athletes and want as much as the guy next door to look like their contemporaries...just as the players of the 50's or 60's looked like their peers.

Dan Campbell, Kyle Turley, Mike MacKenzie, Troy Polamalu...it's a signature style for some players and I fail to see why anyone would find it 'annoying', unless the bias is cultural, and then the onlooker is the one with the problem, not the player.

If it starts detracting from their play, their coaches need to address that..but beneath the uniform is an individual whose sense of team is in NO way impaired by the length of his hair. In fact, a team growing its hair as a group was a great bonding exercise for last years' Boston Red Sox, and it didn't hurt the Vikings much either.
Agreed, but you're missing the other half of the argument. The NFL has prohibited Mike Nolan from wearing a suit on the sidelines, despite his preference.

Could you imagine Ton Landry being told he wasn't allowed to wear his suite and tie?

But once again the reason they said no to Nolan was because of money issues...they have contracts with sports companies to use their attire.

Ever notice that they also can not just wear a blank t-shirt, a regular button up shirt...everything they wear has in some way a connection with a team/nfl liscened clothing.
