If the Cowboys beat the Packers and Commanders and the Eagles beat the Vikings the Eagles can treat the game against the Bears like a Preseason game because win or lose they would have to beat Dallas in week 17 for the Division.

So basically they can sit back and see what Dallas does against the Commanders at 1 pm and then just rest their starters for the week 17 showdown. While Dallas on the other hand have to play their starters in the cold in D.C. to force a elimination game.

Just seems like an advantage for the Eagles IMO. What if Dez or Romo gets hurt in that Washington game? While the Eagles keep Shady McCoy and Desean Jackson out of harms way. The Nfl should've just left the times like they were now the Eagles get the benefit of knowing how to play their guys well before that Sunday Night game.

I get what your are saying but you know what the bottom line is.......No excuses, that's the way it works out sometimes, Dallas needs to take care of their own business, and if the Eagles benefit from a scheduling issue like that, tough.

The game will still matter for seeding purposes if Philly were to beat the Bears and Cowboys, and Philly could still get in as a wild card even if they lost the division to the Cowboys.

Much ado about nothing. We'll be mathematically eliminated this Sunday

No, the Cowboys should have played better and won the division by now. Not the NFL's fault.

It gives the Eagles an advantage if they can rest their main guys 1 week before a Sunday Showdown for the division. I would have no problem with it if the schedule was already set and the Eagles were playing the 4:30 game or the 8:30 game and then rested their guys after seeing what Dallas did earlier in the day. But you take them off a 1:00 pm game where they would have to play their starters and scoreboard watch for an entire game to not having to play their starters at all is not fair. Injuries are a part of Football and the Nfl just made sure the Eagles can avoid injuries to their starters if they don't play them that game.

and what if the Panthers lose their next 2 games and the question becomes for Philly maybe even if we dont beat Dallas we could have a shot at a wild card? They are not resting their starters prior to week 17.

It's impossible for us to be mathematically eliminated this Sunday, even with a Dallas loss and an Eagle win. Maybe you're talking about your other team? Because it definitely won't be Dallas, regardless of winning or losing this week.

It could also work against them if they lose this Sunday and we win both of our games.

I believe the Cowboys rested some regulars 2 years ago against the Eagles the week prior to the Giants game at the end of the year. Romo got hurt (thumb?), early on that game could have returned but they didn't risk it.

They lost to the Giants the next week anyway. Of course, this has become a gutless and rudderless organization.
