MOBILE, Ala. -- Jason Garrett is extremely particular about the way his teams huddle. He believes the way players break a huddle has a significant impact on the success of the upcoming play.

The Cowboys head coach's obsession with that detail was on display this week at the North team's Senior Bowl practices.

"Stop, stop, stop, stop," Garrett shouted before the start of a play Wednesday. "Get in the huddle. Know who you are. Know where to line up. Get your hand down and run a ball play. Come on now."

This sequence is no different than when Garrett is coaching the Cowboys during minicamp, organized team activities or training camp. Attention to detail is critical.

"I love it," Senior Bowl standout wide receiver Braxton Miller said. "He gets his guys ready. You want a coach like that. You don't want to be a sloppy offense just going out there without confidence in what you're doing, so you've got to have somebody telling you, 'That don't look good. Bring it back and do it again.'

His process doesn't work... The South had much less aggressive practices and kicked the North's butt. How many games did we lose by less than
a TD in the 4th qtr this season? Garrett's much like that maniac in Philthy in that his process doesn't build winning teams. Romo, and his ability
to lead a football team is the only thing Garrett has going for his style and method.

LOL at all the butt-hurt fans that are already scrambling to remind us how much they think Garrett sucks...all because an article was published that includes a few positive quotes about him from college kids.

Get a grip.

Lol, the first post was someone rushing to defend Garrett and poke at people who don't like him. The ONLY post that has been harsh on Garrett was in response to that. Nice try though.

LOL at all the butt-hurt Garrett supporters who are scrambling for any positive statement about Garrett that the cling to a quote by Braxton Miller.

Get a grip.

I thought it was interesting that Carson Wentz was reported to have such a great week of practice, only to be relegated to a mere footnote in the actual game. 6-10 for 50 yards.

Kind of reminds one of the reports of how great Weeden had been doing in practice and being the most improved player on the team, only to lose 3 games when it mattered and then get cut in mid-season.

Its nice that Garrett is so concerned about the huddle formation. My sixth grade football coach was a stickler for that also. Hey, Garrett’s teams probably won’t win any actual football games, but they’ll look real good breaking that huddle.

This isn't going to change anybody's opinion, one way or another, about the staff, but it's nice to hear, anyway.

Actually, considering how many Cowboys players over the years have come out of the huddle looking like (and often demonstrating) they had no clue what they were doing, I'd say it points to there being a problem with the players being taught/coached. The fact that he apparently emphasizes the opposite of what has tended to happen only magnifies that problem.

I love to poke fun at Garrett and his many idiosyncrasies but if one is honest, Garrett has some approaches that are positive and helpful, this would be one of them in my view.

Nobody has a problem with the good things. The only problem is the game day results, which in many ways is what really matters . . . . .

That's really a good fair post. JG just isn't experienced enough to win at the NFL level. I know he has tried to do the right things like talking to other coaches and such but he is in over his head. I give him credit for trying but you also have to accept that he's been stubborn.

You are preaching to the preacher on this topic.

Some people do not want to give the guy any credit for anything.

While true, I think some of that is because the dwindling crowd of Garrett Apologists defend him on everything and will never acknowledge or admit he has some shortcomings, so the reaction to that is some times just as extreme.
