What a crock of **** by the NFL! Everyone knows had that same low hit anywhere below the waist (as it should be flagged) on Brady, Rodgers, etc, those penalty flags would be automatically called AND NEVER DENOUNCED BY THE NFL OFFICIALS LEAGUE OFFICE!

The bottom line, there is no excuse for any defender to hit any football player below the waist. Damn, that's why you wear a padded helmet and shoulder pads so you can hit and tackle an opponent above the waist as taught since junior high school football! The horrendous and inexcusable torn up knee to RB Nick Chubbs would have never happened had the NFL league office and team owners manned up and banned all hits below the waist! Same goes for Dak's broken lower leg/ankle, plus Tony Pollard's torn up lower leg. Stop allowing BS leg hits by defensive players!

Sorry for ranting but I'm tired of the NFL and team owners for allowing such dirty legs hits. There is no excuse for that. If you can't hit and tackle a player from the waist up, go play on offense or another sport.

Most of these are judgement calls, so how can they really say this.
Unless it is an obvious blow to the head or body slam, intentionally going to the knees. But some Dallas players in the past, an inadvertent finger tap was called. But our QB's never got them calls.

I thought it was a weak call as well. But it is part of the game. We got one our way for once. And I do not feel bad about it.
That’s the thing about these calls.

Sure, I can say who is right/wrong when I watch the clip 75 times. It’s impossible to be correct in real speed on the fly

The first one was a good call in today's rules. The second one was terrible.

Jets fans should have been upset with that. May have reminded refs in "protect the QB" mode too much of that injury-producing tackle of Aaron Rodgers the week prior.

In any event, it's interesting that Dak is now getting the senior-class calls.

True enough but if indeed they are starting to call these admittedly lame penalties for Dak too then that's a good thing. Lord knows we've seen plenty of times when a defender has been able to go upside Dak's head, grab his facemask and all manner of crap with no flag in sight! But frankly I hate these soft rules against breathing on the QBs and receivers. It doesn't even look like they're being allowed to play tackle football at times.
Romp got his back broken in one of those drove into the ground tackles . But hardly got any Roughing flag

I thought it was a bad call at the time. But then they didn't call the blow to the head he took later in the game so it evens out.

Upon Further Review NFL Officials has acknowledged that a roughing the passer call made in Week 2’s Jets-Cowboys matchup was incorrect.
I disagree. This is what the NFL has to say about it.

1.A defender cannot initiate a roll or lunge and forcibly hit the passer in the knee area or below, even if he is being contacted by another player.

2.It is not a foul if the defender swipes or grabs a passer in the knee area or below in an attempt to tackle him, provided he does not make forcible contact with the helmet, shoulder, chest, or forearm.

I thought it was a good call. It was the second PI I thought was bad.

Two things:

1. It appeared that initial contact was on Dak's upper quad and then he comes downward as he's falling. If you look at the video, the DL's helmet is actually in Dak's rear as his shoulder contacts the upper outside quad.
2. The rule you quote says "A defender cannot initiate..." whereas Steele did fling the DL after he got beat so you could say the DL didn't initiate it. At least that's what Jim Nance mentioned and what the Jets head coach is claiming.

I agree. But I think there were two flags on the play. Roughing passer and holding on DB.

If it is the low hit, I agree. It looked like the defender essentially got thrown into Dak by Steele. Maybe he could have pulled up, but it would have been difficult. If it was the other roughing call, I disagree. I thought the defender landed on top of Dak with his weight. It looked to me like he could have avoided that and just knocked Dak down.

When they call an illegal huddle or false start against their long snapper on the game winning field goal wake me up.

Another great thing about Parsons is how he hits the quarterback. He wraps the quarterback up like a big bear hug.
