We are all turning our attention to who is signed next..

It seems many feel Prescott is due.

Apparently he has a 5th year option to be considered.

So maybe Cooper is next?

The Cowboy debate starts at the 15:00 minute mark so you can fast forward there if you want.

Being talked about as being good is always nerve-wracking to me as I always think it's Parcells and 'Do not eat the cheese' syndrome.

Only 1st rounders have 5th year options.

In Dak's defense I read an article awhile back that showed that after Coop came to the team Dak was a top 10 qb in terms of yards and completion percentage. Personally I'd like to see him do that (along with being top 10 in tds) for an entire season before signing him to big dollars but what do I know.

Dak was a 4th round comp pick, the fifth year option is only for first rounders.. You must be thinking of Byron Jones...

Dak could refuse to sign the franchise tag and instead sit out. It would hurt the Cowboys much more than it would Dak. Need to get Dak re-signed before the season starts. Even Stephen said so.
I disagree, one of Dak's selling points is His Leadership and Team 1st mentality, sitting out in a contract squabble would seriously damage that perception.
He'd earn plenty under the 1st tag, knowing that the Team would either have to tag Him again and pay Him even more, or sign Him long term to a big deal, or release Him into the Wild, where the deep pocketed QB hungry GM's roam.

Nope. If Dak were to play under a tag and get seriously injured, there goes his future big contract. Dak is no dummy. Neither is his new big-time agent. Trust me, the Joneses know this, hence why they want to get Dak signed this year, preferably before the season starts.

He could take out insurance against loss of future earnings due to injury (I'd be shocked if He hasn't done that already), plus, I think Dak loves to play and compete, just couldn't see Him refusing to play under the tag if push came to shove.
Having said that, I'm almost certain a deal will get done long before that came to pass, the J's see Him as Our franchise QB and they know it'll only get more expensive if they wait.

If you are stupid enough to not sign a franchise tag $20M/yr contract then maybe you should not be the qb of the Cowboys. Cousins signed two franchise tags and he made out fine financially.

D-Law was going to sit out this year by refusing to sign his 2nd tag. He just recently got what he was willing to stand up for... over $100 million contract with $65 mil guaranteed.

Was D-Law stupid?

Read what Lawrence said, He said that he would never sit out, his plan was to report 1 week prior to the start of the season and collect his 1 year $20M salary.

Ok, so why were he and his agent talking to other teams?

Dak has NO 5th year option. ..that is ONLY for 1st round picks...Dak was a 4th rounder...Dak can play out his 4th year 2019 for 900,000 But becomes a free agent and could he franchised or he could holdout& we have No QB

Talking to other teams has absolutely Zero to do with sitting out the season and collecting his Franchise Tag $20M. When you have young kids and a family you don’t look crooked at a $20M payday when it can very easily set you and your entire family up for the rest of their lives.

I thought you can't sign your franchise tag unless you are going to play? Why pay any player $20.6 million on a franchise tag if they decide to sit out the season? Makes no sense.
