Merry Christmas in March
I guess it helps but it will make the cost of free agents go way up because all teams will have some cap space to play with and the teams like Jax will likely be forced to spend big again.

Terrelle Pryor
Alshon Jeffery
Kenny Britt
Kenny Stills

I really like the idea of another WR in FA, an Alshon Jeffrey or equivalent player. I can definitely see DE depending on the player but I don't think its as critical as others do.

I think a CB is signed also if they don't draft another one high and/or Carr comes back on a much cheaper contract.

JPP!!!! @bkight13 13mil AAV/5 years 30 guar?
I really don't like him that much....I still think he is limited and probably stays in NY

But if he leaves NY it will probably be for big money and the contract seems right on

I would draft a DE first and sign a mid-level guy......I still have faith in TCrawford, DLawrence, Tapper, Mayowa and possibly Gregory....if Gregory and Tapper are AWOL we have money to do something big, probably a trade

Same here, I'm in the minority but I think they would be OK starting Crawford and DLaw in Marinelli's scheme as long as the rotation guys step up. Mayowa does look a ton better in the last couple of games, if you get improvement from Mayowa, Tapper, David Irving and conceivably Randy Gregory you would be OK.

I'm not opposed to a splashy big money signing if they think its the right fit, but I would bet it becomes the big offseason topic that posters moan about that isn't really an issue in 2017.

So with this new windfall of money what do our cap experts say we have to spend next year ? With and without Romo.
Don't get your hopes up.....we will mainly re-sign vets like Mo, Church, Butler, probably not Leary

I think we trade Romo but if he really wants to stay he will take a big pay cut to around 7m

We will have to ability to add a DE and to make trades if teams want to dump salary like Norman last year

Right on.......Plus an early Draft pick and maybe mid level guy that can play WDE

The cap is a myth. You can manipulate it any way you want to, and it will always grow to absorb your mistakes.

It's a built-in excuse for owners to keep their costs down. That's not necessarily a bad thing because baseball was ruined by no cost structure at all.
Completely disagree about MLB.........the spenders can spend but there are no dominant money teams every year...........they have plenty of sanctions against NYY and LAD and BOS like revenue sharing, luxury tax and loss of draft picks

It is a much better system and when a player signs a contract it is fully guaranteed and they get all of it.......not like NFL when teams cut you 1 or 2 years into a 5 year deal

Salary caps are BS imo........owners just protecting other owners from themselves

You see any WDE (mid-level) worth a flyer, B? And thanks for the feedback on the first post, brother.

I really like JPP and would love to have him on board, then still go DE and MLB in the draft 1 and 2 (if it's there).

I do not want to sign JPP at the cost of Mo (and to a lesser extent, Church). Wanna make that clear :)

Not to mention sanctions (in MLB) if you go over the international signing limit (I believe 3m but, I might be wrong... we got hit hard for Baldoquin -- we were only allotted 300k for this current international offseason signing period, because we gave him a 3m signing bonus, and he's a bust, so far, so it's killing us).

If you go over on international spending, you only get 300k for the next year.

Could we throw the bank at Eric Berry please? Being a graduate of UT Knoxville I have my biases but I'm pretty sure he's one of the best safeties in the game and we could use it.

I am not that versed on the guys out there that would fit at WDE..........I like JPP but I don't think he comes here.......I think he stays with NYG or gets huge money somewhere else

Not sure if guys like Chandler Jones or Melvin Ingram or Sheard or Addison would be WDEs but we seem covered at SDE with Crawford and DLawrence

Church made 5 Million this year and upgrading to a guy like Berry wouldn't cost a ton more than that. Plus at CB I think Claiborne resigns, Brown improves and we spend a #2 or #3 on another CB. Carr could resign as well.

Put an above average SS around those CBs and Byron Jones and you have an excellent secondary.

I don't want to march out the same dang group of DEs we had this year and hope that they become better. We have embarrassing DEs and are near last if not last in sacks. Our best DE is 67th on the sack chart. Shame on us. Shame shame shame.

I'm intrigued by Pryor. He is 6-5, 240 and ran 4.32 and 4.41 at his Supplemental Draft Pro Day.

He has the 2nd best number of the free agent WRs:

63 for 858, 13.6 avg, long 54, 4 TDs

it wouldn't be the same if Crawford knows he is SDE and not 3T
if DLawrence knows he is WDE and not SDE
If Tapper can play
if we draft a DE
if Gregory comes back
if Mayowa keeps improving
