Can we lose Free with Green as injured as he always is? Free is solid, if we lose him we need to look to either FA to replace him or a Rd. 1-3 pick from our draft (I know, I know, X :))
I trust CGreen........everyone gets injured...........Leary gets hurt a lot.......Collins gets hurt........Free's one strength is his health(like Carr) but he is just not worth it

I would cut Free loose and save the 5m....I would draft an OT 3-4 and let CGreen roll at RT....if Free wants to come back as the swing OT it will be for a lot less

That is a major question that has to be answered in the offseason. He makes 7.25MM in salary next year with a cap hit of 10.350 MM.
I expect them to keep him. The 7.25M number is the only one that matters in terms of keeping or cutting him. The front office might consider moving on but Marinelli seems to love him.

They can always wait until the end of training camp to consider other options.

This is one of the very few contract gaffes (presumably) we have made since 2012. Looks to be a bad one. Hope it doesn't deter us from going after a name or two, Kaiser.

He did have a sack last game, as he does every 3-4 games as of late.
Its doubtful we was ever going after a big name. Our front office has already come out and said so. But 2 or 3 mid level signings are possible. Signing actual starting material players is a possibility.

But we haven't seen Green. Like, where are you finding the trust, B? He looked good as he progressed in the preseason, but he is always injured. A Free replacement (of his ilk) is probably ~5mil AAV. If we're lucky. If Green is healthy, hallelujah, I'm definitely onboard. I fear what a 16+game season would do to his body, tho, tbh, B.

Dallas does overpay its inhouse guys at time but the upside is we keep the vast majority of FAs that we want to keep, the players know that they will be taken care of financially if they perform.

And I think its early to call Crawford a gaffe, I could see him settling in at LDE and playing very well. But if they decide he is going to rotate with Collins at 3T I have to think he takes a paycut or is even cut outright.

But the flip side is just like BKight13 says, we have the cap space to pay this kind of bad contracts if we really want to.

Green started 2 games at LT this season. His performance was good.

His issue is all about staying healthy.

I think he probably could have come back from his current injuries sooner if one of the starting OT was out for a game. I think they just wanted to rest him as much as possible since he is a backup.

And next year his salary is only 6m.......he isn't going anywhere and he shouldn't

He is getting consistent pressure and playing the run well

When I was a kid both my brother and sister had a Pinto. ;)
Can't remember for sure, but I think my Dad had one somewhere back there, too. He was noted for driving junkers with gas gauges that didn't work...always claimed he got a great deal on those cars...:)

I hope so, Kaiser. He does flash beast at times, man. He's a tweener (DE/3T) and if we can solidify him (get him at a position and leave him there, one he's comfortable with), maybe it gives him confidence. He does beast, there's no question. I like TCRAW, but at 9aav, thus far, it's an overpayment. It is what it is.

I think that is it .......he would have the same number of snaps that Cleary has if he was healthy

I just think Free is already replacement level but is costing 5m per.....I would much rather go with younger, stronger, cheaper.........are we a drafting team or not?????

I would rather pay Leary than give Free another 5m

I'm intrigued by Pryor. He is 6-5, 240 and ran 4.32 and 4.41 at his Supplemental Draft Pro Day.

He has the 2nd best number of the free agent WRs:

63 for 858, 13.6 avg, long 54, 4 TDs

And he has done it without a legit NFL QB
