Idgit makes a good point, but it just doesn't seem right that the league said no to honoring fallen officers. They can say no to frivolous requests in the future, but this one seems like a power trip by the league office.
Well, I think the issues would be: one, setting a precedent about honoring which causes are worthy enough to place on an NFL uniform, and two, there is another side to this particular issue that of course feels for the officers and their families but wonders where was the outrage and league support for the injustices prior to those police officers being murdered.

It's unfortunate, but you can see where the league does have to draw a line on these types of things. As Jerry said, there are a bunch of worthy causes and as a league they do have to be careful about precedents.

Not to mention that it's a very worthy cause but it's also at the center of a fairly incendiary topic that you can be sure the NFL doesn't want to find itself in the middle of if it flares up in-season, and it easily could.
Standing with the good guys in blue is a no-brainer. Bowing before any activist group(s) is pathetic! This world is so turned upside down, and if you say that it's upside down, then you're ostracized for pointing out the obvious.

This is no surprise. If Goodell can not profit off of it, it's not allowed. As evidenced by all the players who have tried this same thing.

But don't worry, he will sell all the useless pink merchandise every year to make even more money!

Yep - tell you what else.

If I had a personal cause, maybe a death in the family from a disease and I was on a 10 million dollar contract and I wanted to honor or draw attention to that cause with my shoes or something I wouldn't blink and he could fine me whatever he wanted. Of course, he would then instruct the officials not to allow me on the field, It's never ending with him.

P.S. Goodell is from my hometown near Buffalo.

There has been NO criticism by any activist group as a result of the decal.. smh

You guys follow the NFL.. When has the NFL bowed to any outside pressure unless it cost them money. Get it together folks.

They didn't even jump on the domestic violence train until the Ray Rice video came out. Then sponsors "expressed concern" and all of a sudden Ray Rice is persona non grata and some unknown support group became the face of the "No More" movement.

I like that idea. At least for the first preseason game let them wear it.
For some reason, I thought they were allowed in the preseason, but not the regular season. I re-read the article and see now it's not permitted in the preseason either.

Weird.

Im not sure that Goodell is the issue. I think its the fact that there is always certain players that will push the envelope and do something dumb. Its almost like you just have to not allow it.

Social Justice warriors strike again

Right, this is about something PC. Right.

No. It is about the league not saying yes to anything like this as it becomes impossible to draw a line between issues. Let's say the team in Miami wanted to honor the gay men and women killed in Orlando with a gay pride flag on their uniforms. Would that be okay with you? Should that be allowed too? It would certainly be something that the "social justice warriors" would support.

So is this really about social justice warriors or are you just wrong?

which injustices? The ones where the criminals were attempting to harm the police officers?

I see nothing wrong with the Dolphins honoring those people in some way.
