Real shocker here - Jerry has his team strategically positioned with the least cap space

Team by team (projected) salary cap at present

1. Oakland RaidersAvailable Cap Space — $63,783,470

2. Jacksonville Jaguars

Available Cap Space — $51,873,848

13. Philadelphia Eagles
Available Cap Space — $23,532,737

15. Washington Commanders
Available Cap Space — $21,938,568

17. New York Giants
Available Cap Space —$17,581,183

32. Dallas Cowboys
Available Cap Space — $639,057

Jerry Jones’ cap problems have been well documented, to say the least. The Cowboys got under the cap just in time for the new league year, but not by much. Dallas has $134,119,523 in cap obligations for 2015, which includes Tony Romo’s monstrous $28 million cap number. With the contracts of Dez Bryant, Tyron Smith and and DeMarco Murray all set to expire aftert he season, the franchise could be in some trouble if the salary cap doesn’t significantly rise again next year. Step one would be to release DeMarcus Ware in the coming days.

We should release Ware and Austin right away. I think it would be a mistake to cut Autsin post 1st of June.
This team is not "one Ware" away from competing. We even got to 8-8 with a 50% Ware. We can find an adequate player through the draft or FA.

We take the "hits" against the cap this year but we will see the positives from that move next year. By then we only will have a few overpaid players (Romo, Witten, Carr, Free). With whom we can live. Free will be gone in 2015 anyways.
And basically the release of Austin pre June does not hit our cap space negativly. And so does not Ware. We even gain 8 mills (7.4) by releasing Ware.

These two moves are no brainers for me.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I think we save more with Austin's release designated as post-June 1. It is pretty clear he's gone since his jerseys are now discounted.

The first 4 are just BRUTAL. 7 mil toward JRat? 2.1 Mil for LIVINGS? Jones is just a complete dumpster fire of a GM

We dont save more. We postpone the costs to 2015 and stack our dead money.

Na, our cap situation is fine... I read it all the time here.

Yeah Stephen "The-Cap-Wizard" Jones will tell his story to everybody who wants or does not want to hear.
He uses his profile neurosis to his advantage. Thats smart. Way smarter then the way he handles the salary cap.

The Cowboys will push costs forward to the year Romo finally retires or is cut (2016?) and then will clean house ala the Raiders under Reggie McKenzie the past two years.

Jerry your doing a brilliant job. Lls last in cap dollars with aging players who aren't playing close to there contract numbers or big dollars to people not on the team (Ratliff). They should of never gave him that contract extension in the first place smh.

You mean the part about graduating engineering school?

I mean alot of things that get out of his mouth.

When it comes to knowledge i judge people mainly by two things. First what they say (promise) and second what they show me in reality (their acts, their successes - the outcome of their efforts).

Some people dont talk alot but are really successfull and have great acts.
Some people talk alot and are successfull and have great acts.
Some people like to talk alot but are unsuccessfull (the outcome of their efforts is generally negativ) and/or don't have such great acts.

I dont like those last mentioned people. Stephen Jones to me is one of them. He likes to represent himself like a genius. But in the end the outcome of his work is well below average.

The thing that drives me nuts is that there are so many people still falling in love with imposters like Stephen Jones.

In the meantime they focus on being 8-8 ?

It is irrelevant to compare these numbers. Without analyzing each individual team to see who has or has not been restructured, it's irrelevant. The Cowboys are far from being max restructured.

If the Cowboys were in the same situation as 2013, then this would be an alarming number because they were max restructured then; however, in 2014 they have not touched the contracts of Ware, Witten, Carr or Austin.
