Let me start by saying that I am not sure where this post should be placed but I hope the mods could keep it around the main forum for a little bit to get some feedback.

Anyways, we all know how anyone who cheated and used banned substances in MLB or whos names were even tied to using have not and will not get into the HOF. Well now with a player like Antonio Gates who in my eyes is/was a future HOFamer, will he get in? would you vote him in? What kind of impact do PEDS have on the NFL and it HOF?

Gates will have zero issues getting into the HoF, the guy was at the forefront of revolutionizing the position, and consequently, the sport.

I have no clue why we as fans are OK with NFL players using PEDs and are not Ok with MLB players using them. We all know that NFL players are clearly on them humans are not meant to be this big and fast. Head injuries will continue to get worse in the NFL, along with tendon and muscle injuries. And the head injuries in the future will DESTROY the NFL. Lawsuits from the players will take down the NFL in the future because clearly the NFL turns a blind eye to the players taking PEDs. They catch the players that are dumb enough to screw up there PED schedule. NFL knows it and Fans know it. I do not think PEDS make a better product. If everyone was on the same playing field and NOBODY was on them the product on the field would be better than it is now. You would have players that actually use proper form to play this game we all love.

This conversation in my opinion is fascinating.

IMO, it shouldn't matter what sport you play. When considered for the HOF, a player should have no history of ever using PEDs. I wouldn't throw pot in that mix. I'm talking drugs that physically give a player an edge. I would understand if someone argued with me on this though. A HOFer should represent himself off the field as much as he does on the field. But I suppose that's open to debate.

I disagree, I'm all about steroids and PED's, it makes any sport a lot more entertaining, and I'm in it soley for the entertainment.

LOL... Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But step back for a minute and remember this is about getting into the HOF, and not about your personal entertainment.

So let me ask you, "Do you think that players who have knowingly used PEDs deserve as much consideration for the HOF as guys who've played out their careers naturally?

There is a serious issue that fans like yourself MUST start caring about these players taking PEDs. And its future Lawsuits. These lawsuits will happen and they already have. These lawsuits will greatly change the way the game is played. And imagine if one day a player dies on the field on live TV we all know the government will get involved and that will open Pandoras Box for an investigation into drug use in the NFL.

Righto!

Not to mention the effects that it can have on our children who are playing or have aspirations of playing the game. Monkey see, monkey do. If Joe Shmo is in the HOF and he used PEDs, then it must be ok for me to do the same. The guys who sell this stuff don't exactly have a sit down with whoever's buying it informing them of all the negative effects it has on their health down the road.

Really don't care to be honest, keep pumping the PED's and steroids.

It also means other players that play by the rules get passed over or they have to cheat and risk their long-term just to keep up.

I don't feel sorry for them, do what you have to do to win.

Heh. So was A-Rod for the MLB. Past tense anyway.

Here is my issue with the HOF voting for these players. All of the players are on something. We know it but turn a blind eye to it. Do we only punish the ones that are dumb enough to screw up there PED schedule and get caught?

I think that it's impossible to prove whether they knowingly took it or not (unless of course they admit it, which they never would).

Do you like watching football? 30 years from now I am honestly scared due to lawsuits the NFL will be forced to shut its doors. Or forced to play with flags. You will care then.

You do realize that that will likely be reality, with or without players and their PED's and steroids (which they'll never be able to stop) right? As people become more and more educated about head injuries, the sport of football will continue to be at risk of changing drastically, and for the worse. While we have football in its current state, I want it to be as entertaining as possible, thus, keep doing all the steroids and PED's your multi-million dollar body can handle.

Edit: I hate to break it to you, but for every 1 guy that gets caught, there are likely 25 that aren't being caught.

True.

We all know that some slip through the cracks. That's in any sport. But once busted, I doubt there are very many of these media representatives who make up the selection committee that condone it.

It's an ugly business. I'm sure some of the Zoners in here have seen it personally whether that be themselves or in the locker room. Potentially, you risk your quality of life, or even your life, for short-term gain.

Just a bad thing to associate with a HOFer in my opinion. The sport would be just as entertaining without them.

Did you read all my posts? I think the whole NFL is using. Every single player. I say do Olympic standard testing for PEDs. You are right that the sport of football is in trouble despite the PEDs. But its in far more trouble because of PEDs. I think if you have a clean NFL you will actually have players that know how to properly play, block, tackle and with that change these head issues will subside.
