In the most important game of the year, our offense couldn't even score a TD in garbage time.

Heck, If Jerry can't see the writing on the wall perhaps the Lions can point him in the right direction. Do it Red!

Not good.

I am surprised that so many want this team to learn a new offense, when they still haven't figured out how to execute the current one.

If Jason is as smart as everyone says he is, he will take the Lions job if they give it to him. One more year of this Madden09 offense, and he'll be lucky to get a job as a QB coach in the Arena League.

I think Garrett would take it. It also would not surprise me if the Rams talk to him. They run a similar offense here in St. Louis, and Haslett is not a lock to get that job.

Maybe Jerry knew something we did not know. If Garrett gets an HC job, then Jerry is not obligated to pay him from out of his contract. And the problem takes care of itself.

He'd fit right in up there. He's tailor made to "keep the Lion tradition alive".
He's also very qualified for the HC job. A decade of riding pine behind Troy. Two years QB coach in Miami (name for me the QB during his "tunure"), a coaching family "pedigree" that consist of a father and brother coach at Eastern Nevada School of Linen, and an uninspiring and predictable couple years screwing around in Dallas as OC and getting nothing done.

Perfect for Detroit....................

Witten and Romo drawing plays, we had no offense.

Well well well now the question is this..

If he does get a HC job does that somehow push Jerry to torch Phillips?

Say it aint so!

They havent figured out how to run the current one because its steaming hunk of crap run by someone who thinks he is far more intelligent than he actually is.

Has this actually been confirmed? Any chance they want Wade as the GM?

Ok, a few non-butt-holish thoughts:

First, I think it's possible he's a better head coach than he is a coordinator. You've seen many a successful head coach entirely skip the coordinating ranks. Being the head man isn't necessarily dependent upon being able to call a good Xs and Os game plan. But I think he absolutely is not a quality coordinator.

With that said, it's a time like this where Jerry needs to decide what he wants. For as idiotic as Jerry can be, if he truly believes Garrett is a brilliant head coach in the making, it's time to take a crap or get off the pot and either let Garrett be the head coach or let him walk. This silliness of having him make as much money as the head coach and be the not-so-secretive head coach in waiting was a disaster and only added to undermine the man currently manning the head coaching role.

Thats exactly what I want to know. It certainly opens the door wider.

Are the Lions that stupid? Of all the people to interview. Jerry Jones has to be laughing.

Maybe that was the secret part of the Roy Williams trade. Wink, wink. We will give you a first and a third for Williams but you also have to take Garrett as head coach.

Brilliant!

Maybe there will be significant changes to the Cowboys’ coaching staff after all.

The Lions have asked for and received permission to interview Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, once viewed as the successor to coach Wade Phillips, league sources confirmed Monday. The Lions and Garrett are in the process of trying to set up the interview. It could happen this week.

Garrett interviewed for the Ravens and Falcons coaching jobs last season and turned down the chance to be with each organization in order to return to Dallas, where owner Jerry Jones made him the highest paid offensive coordinator in the game. But Garrett’s decisions, and Dallas’ offensive predictability, were questioned this season. Still, Detroit is intrigued enough to reach out to Garrett and arrange the interview.

The Lions did not stop there. They also have requested an interview with one of the most sought-after assistants on the market, Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, whose team has a bye this weekend. Schwartz is thought to be intrigued with the Browns job, but perhaps the Lions could sell him on Detroit.

Still, it was a busy day for the Lions, who arranged interviews with Garrett, Schwartz, Leslie Frazier, Jerry Gray and Steve Spagnuolo.
