Top 10 Power Back
Made their living moving piles. Power became their identity.

10. RB/FB Mike Alstott - Tampa Bay

9. RB Christian Okoye "The Nigerian Nightmare" - Chiefs

8. FB "Bronko" Nagurski - 1930 Chicago Bears - left the NFL over a contract dispute w/George Halas; became a wrestler. Showed alot of good footage from that era.

7. FB Marion Motley - Browns - 6'1" 240 lbs; One of the first African Americans to play. Partially credited w/creating the draw play. It was a broken play and the QB gave it to him and he ran w/it. Paul Brown saw how it worked and put it in the play book.

6. RB Jerome Bettis - Rams/Steelers

5. RB Jim Taylor - Green Bay - scored the first rushing touchdown in a superbowl

4. RB Larry Csonka - Miami Dolphins

3. RB Earl Campbell - Houston Oilers

2. RB John "The Diesel" Riggins - Commanders

1. RB Jim Brown - Cleveland

I'd put Campbell above Riggins. Other than that, not a bad little list.

That was the first thing I thought, too. Otherwise... the list is fine.

I will never understand these lists...where do they come from? Why are they made? Who really cares?

Actually I think Campbell was the better of both. When Earl hit you going full steam, you went down. Didn't matter who you were, how big you were, how much momentum you had, etc. He was a running back and he literally hurt people every single Sunday.

We're just splitting hairs here though. Both were truly great RBs.

earl played high school in austin i believe (at least that's who i'm thinking of) and i recall my older sister and brothers saying when their team had to play against him they were flat out scared cause he would hurt you.

riggo was one tough SOB also - but like you say - they're so close it's all a matter of respect at this point.

Csonka was all Coked up, so he mauled everyone.

Ex-girlfriends Dad used to play against him. QB for the Raiders in the 70's. (you have 2 seconds to guess who that cokehead was, too)

:lmao2:

I had that conversation with a friend this past weekend, about what he said to Emmitt, about needing to retire, when Hamhock was here. Then he gets sent to the Cardinals. Guess who the backup to Emmitt was, and still sucked?

lol, thanks
