Top 10 Power Back
Made their living moving piles. Power became their identity.

10. RB/FB Mike Alstott - Tampa Bay

I would replace Alstott with former Viking Bill Brown. Other than that it is a good list.

It's funny that most of us had the same thought when it comes to Riggins vs. Campbell.

I too thought Campbell should have been placed above Riggins. But I think in the piece they said that many power backs didn't lead their teams to a championship, but Riggo did, including that spectacular 4 and 1 run that put the Skins in the lead in their second Super Bowl over Miami.

I think that's the reason why Riggo got the nod over Campbell. But in any other measurement, Campbell wins over Riggins. Too bad Houston ran him into the ground.

I would consider Otis Anderson and George Rogers over Alstott.

Walter Payton should be somewhere on this list.

Just because he wasnt one demensionaly like a few of the guys on this list he would absolutely lay you out.
He was mentioned, as far as running w/power. But then they added another reason he wasn't on the list was because his nickname was "Sweetness"

Maybe I forget, but I never thought of Walter Payton as a power back either.

I would rank Emmitt ahead of Payton in terms of power running and I wouldn't put Emmitt on this list.

I see the list as guys who were primarily power runners and neither of those two fit that description. Not that either guy didn't run with power but they only used it when they had to, otherwise they used their vision and cutting ability to avoid direct contact.

The guys on the list usually went head on into the defense and overpowered them whenever they got the ball.

Byner is not on this list either. He and Mack were both power runners for the old Cleveland teams. George Rogers and Ottis Anderson should both be on this list, no question. Both were great power runners. Jerome Bettis should be on this list without a doubt and probably higher. Ernie Nevers was a power runner as well. Over all, I think this is a very bad list. Campbell was the best I ever saw but opinnions vary.

They were big on nicknames and said something like with a name like Sweetness he couldn't be considered.

I agree. Charlie Waters and Cliff Harris both said without hesitation who was the toughest guy to tackle both said Campbell. They said it hurt to tackle him as Earl would dish out his punishment on would be tacklers

What gets me is they have two list come out. The most elusive and power backs. And Emmitt and Walter were on niether. I believe. So what list are they on?

They are not elusive and they are not power?

I really dislike these list. I think they just randomize most of this. They actually had Marino on the most mobile qb list.

The overall best list.
