Maybe, but it isn't like these are snaps over a period of time. It is a drill of maybe 8-10 plays and not hard to watch closely

I have watched these types of drills many times from the fence, pretty easy to follow.

I liked Watt, i think me and you actually discussed him a fair amount in threads.

But, there were plenty of questions about his ability to play on the line in a 4-3, and his injury history.

I think he could play in a 4-3 in a year or two. He has the frame. But, I actually think Taco will be a better 4-3 DE.

Watt went to a good situation, he'll do well in Pitt. I liked him more standing up, because hes better with a head of steam. I think their rookie years will be pretty comparable actually. They both went to ideal situations

Completely fair assessment. I hope you're right and they both have comparable years, as in good ones.

Point well taken. It's premature at best to criticize Taco for being bested by someone who's already had time to develop. Taco is still in his embryonic stage as far as his development is concerned. Least we can do is to give the guy a chance to be introduced to some pro experience before concluding he's destined to be a flop. La'el Collins is a total stud who should make many a rookie DE look inadequate.

Collins needs to be beating up on the rookie given that collection of competition.

If all of them end up playing they are all top shelf NFL pass rushers. The worst would be Nick Perry, who was a flash in the pan last year, but a flash nonetheless.

The rest are pretty daunting.

Not really the same. Ware was the best in the game at the time. Smith was getting whipped by the best.

Collins is making a transition to right tackle for the first time as a pro since playing at LSU two years ago. Yet he is stealing Charlton's lunch money. It is the first practice though.

McGinest wasn't the only one watching that drill, Nick Eatman from .com earlier today on "The Break" said he saw Collins dominating that drill but Taco did have one play were he got the better of LC. I think this is to be expected and they also mentioned that on "The Break". They compared it to when DWare and Tyron Smith first went head to head in pads in camp. Ware, the veteren was dominate at the beginning of camp but by the end of camp the rookie,Tyron had figured him out. I wouldn't give up on Taco just yet. Collins is going to dominate most D-lineman in the league. Taco will figure it out and be just fine.

Agree, not worried about Taco yet. It is to be expected that he will struggle at first.

Those are pretty good offensive lineman Taco is going up against, I'd be more concerned if in a week or 2 if he is still having trouble beating the lineman every once in a while...

Glad to hear Collins has taken control of RT. In regards to Taco he was a solid pick, but I don't believe he has the quick twitch to be a top speed rusher in this league. I do believe once he adds more strength he could develop into a very good LDE and be a matchup problem as he will be more athletic than the rts he will face. We should have no concerns that Taco isn't dominating his 4th day of camp, and I know he will get better throughout training camp and future years. He can make an impact as part of the rotation, here's how I see it for 2017.

4 to 6 sacks- Decent start with something to build on. These are probably most in line with where expectations should be. Anything less would be disappointing.

7 to 9- Excellent start for a rookie de, that typically don't make a big impact in season 1. Ware is one of our best rushers of all time and he had 8 in his first season. As a fan base we should be thrilled if he comes close to that production.

10+- We should be ecstatic, but this is a low probability of happening.

People are down on Taco cause folks wanted Watt. Taco has won a few battles against Tyron so I'm not worried. He is a rookie and will need developing. Go watch other rookie pass rushers then remember Dallas has the best OL in the league

Liked Watt, but thought Tyus Bowser could be just as good. Hoped to trade down and pick up Bowser. But Taco is our guy, so hoping he proves us all wrong.

That is EXACTLY my feeling too. I'd be more concerned if Collins was getting beat by a rookie in our first padded practice.

And I love that he's not just winning, but punishing. La'El Collins could be our most physically dominating RT since Erik Williams. And if can be that, this offensive line, and offense overall can rise to a new level of dominance.

What? It's not about the 3-4 having a pass rush advantage over the 4-3. It's the point that your comparison is essentially assuming that should Watt have a great season, we can reasonably assume he would experience a like season playing a completely different position on a completely different team in a completely different scheme. My point is that's not necessarily true. The truth is as a 4-3 de, he would most likely be used as a passrush specialist in the early going and would hardly see the field. Furthermore, Taco and Watt are two completely different styles of pass rushers. Watt is pure speed; he's not winning with strength against any NFL caliber OL. Watt simply doesn't currently have the physical makeup to do so. Taco has the frame to carry the requisite strength to be a 3-down DE, but he will require strength and conditioning to get there. My guess is we really won't fully appreciate Taco until next year.

That would make him one stale taco.
