I do not see it, Lee was already falling or off balance right after his knee buckles, even a push would have looked bad. Does Martin make contact yes but the injury happened prior to contact.

OTAS are "light" contact proceedings. Their purpose is more to measure practical understanding of the playbook vs whether or not one guy can get leverage on another... There is no justification for Lee having been practically pancaked. None whatsoever.

No it didn't. It happened upon impact. I know I am not blind.

He would not have been "Pancaked" if he had been able to shift his weight and flow as he intended prior to his knee giving. The contact did not happen in a vacuum. It looked worse because he was off balance and already falling.

I see it as he is running down the play he goes to engage Martin his right leg shoots out straight he is off balance just as his extended arms to engage martin his left knee was already bent and he is off balance at the point as martin makes contact. Lee engages contact not martin.

This front office from top to bottom is just plain stupid. Why go full speed and allow contact like that in OTA's?! Such a waste! Idiots.

Things like this clearly illustrate why we are stuck in a perpetual 8-8 cycle. We are quick to brush off and dismiss the continuous blunders logged by the coaching staff. If we reach 8 wins this year it will be a miracle.

The league understands that fans come to watch stars, not spares. So the league is trying their butts off to protect them. Some guys can't be protected. The way your bone structure is, the way your body is, just not made for this long term. Some guys can darn near go a whole career without many injuries and others are injured all the time. But I see what the league is trying to do, and quite frankly, I'd rather see Romo than the spare they have at QB behind him. So if it says no contact to protect the stars, so be it.

Thanks for adding the video to this conversation. Martin had no right or reason to engage Lee the way he did... I played Oline. That was CLEARLY not half speed or no contact play. He buried Lee who probably didn't expect to find himself in that situation in non/light contact drills.. hence the way he went down and his anger afterwards.

We deserve perpetual 8-8 seasons for shoving crap like this under the rug and thinking it won't smell at some point in time.

yeah something tells you Jerruh and Co. are trying to shove Kyle Orton under the same rug as Sean Lee

Bleu I usually agree with you on most topics but dude... it was a shove and Sean's knee was either gone or going or going to go. The reality of the situation is Sean Lee has trouble staying healthy in a contact sport with bigger stronger men coming downhill at him or making contact with him.

It's not a shot at Lee's manhood- he's got the heart of a lion- but it's readily apparent that Sean's body is in over his head. It might be his motor is too high- it makes no difference. He's gone. If it wasn't Martin it would be Iupati, it might be Marshawn Lynch, it might be Nick Foles trying to tackle him after Sean picks him off.

Sean Lee is going to get a body part compressed, twisted, broken or hurt playing with grown men in a physical contact sport.

I have heard all of the verbiage about Lee's attraction to injury. Heck, I have had plenty of fun calling him a china doll. That all said, this is the very first OTA. Guys are not out there for the contact. They are out there to make practical sense of that ginormous play book. This didn't have to happen and it has nothing to do with Lee's china doll label.

How is this so hard to interpret? Lee's injury occurred before Martin got there....at most, simultaneously. We have a large man blocking upfield expecting some resistance from Lee(who wasn't able to give any). With Lee already twisting, falling down, Martin's progress at that point could not be stopped....hence, the falling over him part. He in no way tried to purposely pancake him. As soon as contact was to be made, they would have both backed off.

Again, Martin is a big boy who can not just stop at will. With Lee not being able to stand his ground, Martin probably was out of control at that point as well and fell over him making it look worse then it was.

My main concern is........it was a rainy and stormy Tuesday. Could possible bad field conditions have a part in this? Bad footing, slipping, etc, etc. It seems the smart thing to do would wait it out and make sure the field is dry....maybe postpone field activities until the next day. I don't know.......

Once more, the point I stand firmly by is that this should have never happened. You have your defensive field general coming off of injury out there mixing it up on day 1 of OTAs. Martin clearly carried his momentum to and through Lee. He was not to be shown up. They should have never come together that violently because the contact should have been clearly specified as slim to none. Call it whatever you want or sweep it under the rug like the rest of the little things that add up to 8-8.

Lee leans into Martin on the play as Martin explodes and blows up Seans knee. Sean Lee never seen it coming. Everyone needs to watch the Video closer, the Players Union will be and you can't blame them.

Knowing Lee he provoked Martin.

I don't care what anyone says the proof is in the film. That was a brutal play and it appeared to be a cheap shot.

Play looked legit to me.

Don't see how anybody can blame Martin, he didn't know the starting middle linebacker was soft as charmin.

Freak accident. It's stupid to blame anybody but the staff and FO. The players are being asked to go full speed at OTA's. What is Martin/Lee supposed to do? Not go full speed? Come on. The reason this happened was because they're being asked to go full speed and it could have happened to anybody really. There is no need to go full speed in OTA's. Again, this is on the staff/front office.
