My Caps have gone from their 10-0 start to barely having a shot at the playoffs. Being a Caps fan isn't' all that much different from being a Cowboys fan....unfortunately.

The caps are broken in the worst way.

I think that they are a true example of why any team that want's to be good has to start by building down the middle.

Center, defense, goaltender. The caps have had the goaltending in the past (although moving Varly looks like a mistake) and their defense with Green is decent, but the Capitals never had the depth at center to truly make a push. This year, with Backstrom out were really seeing that lack of center depth bite them hard.

What the hell is up with my Pens over the last handful of games...they go from the hottest team in the league, a team poised to take the top spot in the East, to a team limping into the playoffs with some poor, poor play. This is very frustrating.

LET'S GO RANGERS...clinched the East. Philly looked awful. Bryz will catch a lot of flack for that performance but really, every goal the Rangers had was a guy unchecked in the low slot or on the crease.

With your win and the Pens win, we almost have the 4th seed all wrapped up......still, it looks like it is going to be a divisional rivalry all the way to the ECF.....Pens vs Flyers and the winner will most likely get the Rangers.

They'll be just fine. I'm a Leafs fan, but i see Pittsburgh making the finals at the very least.

I see Florida getting beat, so chances are you will see a NYR vs Pittsburgh eastern final.

Also, i see Detroit making it to the cup final again this year. Either them or Chicago.

how does Hockey do it? cause in the NBA, the 4 Pens would play the 1 Rangers in the 2nd round if both teams were to advance....but I do not know how the NHL does their playoff matchups from round to round.

The highest seed plays the lowest seed in rounds 1 and 2. 1 Vs 8, 2 Vs 7, etc in round one.

And the winners that go to round 2, the highest seed left plays the lowest seed left.

NYR (1) will beat Washington (8)

Boston (2) will beat Ottawa (7)

NJ (6) will beat Florida (3)

Pittsburgh (4) will beat Philly (5)

So it will be NYR(1) vs NJ (6) and Pittsburgh(4) Vs Boston (2)

I see Pittsburgh and NYR winning and going to the conference final.

And of course, the highest seed in every match-up gets home ice advantage. Starting the series with 2 games at home.

I think Philthy may beat Pens this year.

because i never paid attention to the playoff seedings....i am a hockey fan, but i didnt grow up with it like i did football, basketball, and baseball. hockey was rarely on tv here in south texas until the last handful of years thanks to versus and the nhl network....really the only hockey i would see is nhl on nbc once a week, or a game here or there on espn, or suffer having to watch the stinkin stars on foxsports southwest.....thank goodness for versus and the nhln.

even though i follow my pens as close as possible, i still have a lot of voids in my knowledge of the sport....and i am ok with that.

way to choke away game 1 and home ice.....I am so disappointed in my Pens....a 3-0 lead after 1 and they lose in OT 4-3. Yes, the first Flyers goal may have come on an offsides, but regardless, the Flyers totally outplayed the Pens after the 1st Period.

The Pens need to win tomorrow night, then go back to Philthy and steal a game or two.

GO PENS

Best game I've watched in a long time last night between the Caps and Bruins. Didn't like the outcome, but Holtby was amazing between the posts.

I've only had the opportunity to catch the Flyer/Pens and Caps/Bruins series so far......but wow, I forgot how awesome playoff hockey was.

Stoked on the Caps win tonight....best they've played in some time. They'll still need some serious luck to win the series though, I'm afraid.

Hahaha, indeed. Letting up two come from behind wins, a two hat trick game, a 4 point game to a rookie who was assigned to cover Malkin all game, a 6 point game to Giroux.. all in your own building. If only they gave points for diving and flopping huh Pens fans?

:laugh2:

Holtby is playing the same way Varlamov was against the Rangers a couple years back.

every team flops.....but I have to give the Flyers credit for absolutely taking it to my Pens....so much so that they caused the Pens to go thug in game 3 and play some of the most classless hockey I have ever seen....well at least in this modern era.

what ticks me off the most is all the stupid, senseless penalties the Pens are taking, especially Kunitz and Letang. These penalties are doing nothing but leading to ST goals for the Flyers. What also hurts is the 3 short handed goals scored by the Flyers....so even when the Pens are on the PP, the Flyers have been scoring. So the Pens have really committed hockey suicide in the first 3 games......

The Flyers have played a much smarter and more efficient series.....even with their poor goaltending, the Pens have been much worse. First 3 games the Flyers have a 20-12 goal edge.....now it is 23-16 after the 1st period of tonights game.
