I am quite surprised that this thread has yet to be made...but with the NFL Draft and NBA playoffs going on, I guess hockey takes a back seat.

At any rate, the playoffs have been exciting so far. If Montreal doesn't choke away a lead in game 2, they are up 3-2 in their series instead of down 3-2. Part of me wants Montreal, so Pittsburgh has home ice and they can avoid the team that has bent them over prison style all season, Washington. But a big part of me wants Washington. If the Pens are meant to repeat, they need to beat their nemesis this season, like they did last season (the Wings).

I was a bit surprised to see Philly take care of NJ....since NJ was the higher seed...but I didnt follow the season series, so I know how well they match up against one another.

My Pens advanced with a win tonight. Ottawa came to life once they changed goalies after game 4. They almost sent it to game 7 tonight, if not for a great save by Fleury. So the Pens advance by the skin of their teeth......and await the winner of Washington and Montreal.

GO PENS

Gotta admit, I'm not overly confident with the way my Caps were playing down the stretch. We're not hitting on all cylinders right now, and with the way your silly damn Penguins play in the playoffs, things could be VERY interesting in the second and third rounds assuming the tops seeds all advance.

Most of the series seem to be pretty even except the Philly/NJ which was a surprise to me. I thought Broduer (sp) would have kept them in.

The games I seen have all been exciting games. The one yesterday where Nashville let Chicago score a short handed goal late in the 3rd was something else. Nashville just need to keep the puck away from Chicago and they win and go up 3-2.

I hope all the series are good ones.

It seems many times the 1 seed struggles playing the 8th. I expect the Caps to win it and hope they do. I would much rather see them play than the Habs.

I hope Phoenix wins their series. I would of never thought they would make the playoffs. Tippett done a amazing job with that team. Good for him.

how did you become a pittsburgh fan?

Yeah, I can't see any playoff hockey other than the one game on Sunday on NBC. I have Dish Network, and I don't have the cheapest subscription. I just don't get Versus. Still can't believe the NHL continues to show their games almost exclusively on that channel.

All the momentum from the Olympics is wasted on the fact that not everyone can watch the NHL playoffs.

Hopefully the Canadiens can come back and beat 8 and the Capitals. We should be ahead but aren't.

If we pull it out tomorrow, all the pressure goes to 8 and the Capitals. They will be gripping big time on Wednesday as their great season could go up in smoke after seven games.

:laugh2:

That's ridiculous. You guys shouldn't be in it this far.

....but then again, how could I possibly expect anything less from you.

We gave you game 2.

Your own coach has admitted you were fortunate to win then. At worst we were equal in 1 and 5.

You should be embarrassed your team has not swept a team that finished over 30 points behind.

well as you can probably guess, hockey isnt all that big down here is San Antonio. if not for ESPN, i probably wouldnt have seen a hockey game until i was an adult. well one day i was flipping channels and i came across a hockey game. I have always like Penguins....Chilly Willy was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. So when I saw a team named the Penguins, that hooked me. Also, the Pens had this guy names Mario Lemieux on the team. He was flat out awesome. Before that game, the only hockey player i had ever heard of was Wayne Gretzky. Well, Mario was simply SUPER and so that hooked me as well.

I started paying attention in the newspaper, ESPN, and Sports Center.....and started learning the players....Jagr, Samuelsson, Samuelsson, Barrasso, Wregget, Stevens, Tocchet, Francis, Mullen, Recchi, Coffey, and Straka.....are the ones I remember the most from the late 80s and early 90s.

I was quite upset that Jagr left. I felt he and Mario should have been Penguins for life.

So that is why I am a Penguins fan. They are the only of of my favorite teams not from Texas. Also, I despise every other team from Pittsburgh....Steelers, Pirates, Panthers.

I love the blue Penguins jerseys...those are awesome. If Texas wasnt so dang hot, I would buy me one. I do have a baseball jersey with Penguins on it.....I wonder if they make a blue one like that...I would definitely look into getting it.

That's a riot coming from you.

I am surprised at how much the Caps are struggling with Montreal, with the way the dominated the league this year, especially the Champs......

sounds good to me. I was just curious cause to me no offense but you're one of if not the biggest Texas homer on here imo. so I just had to ask where the love for the Pens came from.

no biggie...shocks me too....btw, I hate the Dallas North Stars.

before Mario became owner of the team, if I was a billionaire, I would have tried to move the Pens to SA....and of course, kept the name Penguins.

GOD BLESS TEXAS

It's not just the Habs, they haven't been playing their best hockey for the last month and a half. They can't expect to win in round two if they don't get back to mid-season form.

That being said, they have by no means been outplayed by Montreal in the series as CCF suggested. They've been outplayed in spots, as have your Pens, but overall, its' been obvious which is the better team.

well unfortunately, the Caps havent struggled against the Pens....:banghead:

Excited my Flyers are through. They are gonna have a tough road without Richards and Gagne, but ending the seasons of the Rangers AND the Devils has been well worth it.

Most thought the Flyers were done after we beat them 1-0 on a Friday night late in March. I didn't think they would beat the Devils but you took it to them good.

Wouldn't mind a rematch against you after you took us out in 2008. Granted, we have to win the next two and the next round for that even to be a possibility.

You mean Carter and Gagne. Happy with the one round win. I dont see them beating the Pens or Capitals though.
