It might not have been all Folk's fault, but he did kick the ball out of bounds way too much. Then again, our kick-off coverage teams sucked in general.

Yes he did. Sorry my bringing it up made posters like dbair have a temper tantrum.

Man you can get worked up over post. Chill out.

"I see people with anger problems."

How is he getting worked up?

He asked "exaggerate much?" Then, he replied with a sarcastic emoticon. Hardly portraying anger.

our coaching is so pathetic it's hard to get on players like Folk, even if he has a weak/short kickoff leg.

really, ST were never worse than last year AFIAK.

Look at his post before that. That's the one I was referring to.

Actually, his was the "stupid post of the day" because Folk kicked it out of bounds 5 times last year. That's more than 3-4 over a span of two years where I went to gradeschool.

First, he really hasnt kicked many balls out of bounds. In fact I bet he hasnt done it more than 3 or 4 times in two seasons.

5 times last season, 2 times in 2007. So he leads the league during this period (tied with Suisham). On the other hand, the return yds are among the least in the league as are those of the other guys with oob kicks above the league average. So that approach is neither stupid nor uncommon. You can see a correllation between touch backs/out of bounds kicks and return yds. So basically every ST coach has to do this trade off, some do it our way, some choose the other.

There may be room to improve, but that "problem" really is minor one. And no way it's a kicker problem, improved coverage should do the trick.

Yeah but it's not 8 in one season either, as you claimed.

I was exaggerating.
Which was exactly what David called you out on. Glad we all agree. You're exaggerating trying to give your complaint more effect.

dont misunderstand me here;

im not trying to sound like im not blaming the special teams coach;
anytime you have to hire or place 4 other coaches to help out on special teams, something is wrong with your special teams coach;

we all agree with that i think; but if you remember wade saying several times, folk was suppose to kick the ball to a certain spot and folk would kick it the other way. Even folk said one time that he was trying to kick the ball a certain way to fool the other team with his foot and it just didnt work the way he had been kicking in practices. That goes back to the kicker, not doing what he was told to do.

so both were wrong the special teams coach for not getting his point across; and the kicker when trying to do something the opposite from what he was told to do along with the whole special teams thinking from the dallas cowboys team.

Folk is the last of my concern personally. We need Carp,Davis and company to actually cover a kick off, we need offenses to start inside their 20 more often than the 30s'.

Chill out??:laugh1:

All I did was point out that your complaint is small potatoes. Guess you just wanted to cry a bit. Maybe something new that no one's complained about yet...? Well congratulations, you found something to complain about that we haven't covered ad nauseum. Hope you feel better.

No one's crying, just the geeky overraction by you and dbair is a little annoying. If I feel Folk kicks the ball out of bounds too many times and I make a post about it I shouldn't have guys like you two throwing temper tantrums about it. Find something else to do.

nobody's throwing a temper tantrum...I just think its an incredibly insignificant complaint, especially when he was trying to do something that our moronic ST coach asked him to do...he has plenty of leg strength, he should be doing the most to maximize that and boom it into the endzone, rather than trying to place kicks in the corner inside the 10's all the time

You've got to be kidding with this Folk mess. That guy is nails on FGs and pretty decent on kickoffs. I would like to think those kicks out of bounds had more to do with the direction of the venerable Bruce Read and less to do with Folk's actual ability. Exit one of the worst special team coaches in the history of the NFL and you have instant improvement in that phase of the game.

The only overreaction I see in this thread is your replies

Thats exactly why I think its a non-issue. Our new ST guy will probably have him doing something entirely different.
