Unless Folk is making 90 percent, he's just another guy and we have to have a kickoff specialist.

Thank You

National Football League

Each NFL team may keep up to eight members on its "practice squad" in addition to the 53-member main roster. They consist mostly of rookies who were cut in training camps and borderline NFL-caliber players. Both rookies and young veterans are eligible for the practice squad. However, a player cannot participate on the practice squad for more than three seasons, or if he has accrued a year of NFL experience (six or more games on a club's 53-man active roster or official Injured Reserve list.) If the player was on the active list for fewer than 9 games during their "only Accrued Season(s)", he maintains his eligibility for the practice squad[1].

Practice squad players practice alongside regular roster players during the week, but they are not allowed to play in actual games. They can be paid considerably less than active squad players: The minimum salary from 2008 to 2010 is $5,200 per week (2008-2010)[2] for 17 weeks, or $88,400 per season, in comparison to the NFL minimum rookie salary of $285,000. (Some practice squad players are paid considerably more, however. In 2006, the New England Patriots paid third-year player Billy Yates the full $425,000 he would have earned on the active roster.)[3]

Players can be promoted to the active roster of their current team or to that of any other team. They have free agent status and can sign with any team they wish without compensation to the original team, if they are released from the practice squad. Additionally, the NFL has a program through which foreign players may be assigned to teams' practice squads, called the International Practice Squad Program.[4]

Does anyone understand the logic behind restricting the type of players that can be on the practice squad?

Why can't it just be any player? They're still avaiulable to other teams, so it's not like your stashing away some player to keep them off another team

Because I think the NFL meant for it to be a development tool since their is no farm system type of thing out there.

Glad that most people are in agreement saying yes you bring him back.

I'm most def. in this camp as well.

Anyone know where (kicking coach) Hoffman is now? IMO, the cowboys could use him to help all 4 kickers in the off season.
Is there a limit on the number of coaches?

of course you bring him back. lots of kickers go through this and if we can get him back on track, he's very good

He cleared waivers, (like last week), no team has made a move on him.

So the question is, do you bring him back during the off-season?

I do, without a question.

I think Matt Stover is available now that Vinetari is back. I wouldnt mind seeing him getting a tryout.

The real question is:

If the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, does Folk get a ring?

I dunno, you'd have let Der Buehler into the duke-fest too, and that wouldn't be a fair fight...

Maybe they should all three just compete for the kickers' job instead...

I just hope they don't have Buehler arm wrestle them for the job

that's not good for anybody

I'm extremely happy to see how many people agree we should give Folk another chance next year.

You can always bring him back for competition assuming you want any and he's available. If the new guy is hitting at over 80% then it may not matter anymore.

If we are going to bring Folk back based on the 2 good years before he became a shank machine, we might as well bring back Vanderjagt too to see if he has snapped out of his funk. I mean he was the most accurate FG kicker in NFL history at one point, right? :D
