Good point. I think he’d want to get more than Devin Lloyd got 3 years 45 million. I don’t know much about the player other than he’s 28, was all pro 1st team last year and a former 1st rounder but If they gave up the 3rd it’s basically a trade of osa and his 4 year 80 million for a green dot ILB and whatever deal that surpasses Lloyd I think I’m good with that. Trading a non-fit for a better fit at less salary and a contract restructure to free up some cap this year is a win in my book.

He was an all pro but will be turning 29 during the season. My cousin is a Dolphins fan once hes able to talk about football again after the purge they went thru, im gonna ask him more about Brooks lmao.

Really believe they are going to see what happens in the draft first before they make a trade for a linebacker or edge rusher, kind of like last year when they traded for Pickens after the draft.

Brooks wasn’t a free agent.

None of the FA LB’s are in Brooks category (IMO). I wouldn’t have spent big money for Dean, Lloyd, or Walker. I think they are getting paid more than they are worth, so I’m glad Dallas didn’t get in a bidding war with Las Vegas.

The only one of those 3 that I liked was Dean and He’s been hurt every year going back to his college career.

Brooks, on the other hand, is worth bigger money. He is a complete off-ball LB (with the physical and mental ability that Parker wants) and he would be exactly what Dallas needs. I’d gladly give up a 3rd for him, although I’d rather it be next year’s 3rd. Miami has so many picks this season already, they might would rather a pick next year in a draft that is laden with QB’s.

Speaking for myself, I’d trade for Brooks and hopefully come out of round 1 with an edge and a CB. That would give the Cowboys a real good chance of having a more than competitive defense this season.

In a defense that (IMO) will show a lot of improvement solely because of schematic/coaching changes, the players Dallas get in this scenario could make a very big difference this season.

With a first round where Dallas ends up with someone like Mansoor Delane and Cashius Howell (for instance), would make for a significant offseason of improving the defense.

Some think Delane is the best DB in the draft he could be . He would make for a nice addition pick 12 .

Devin Bush young vet aggressive is who I wanted Dallas to sign . He ends up in Chicago at 10 million per for 3 yrs . You have to pay for quality players .

Obviously Pickens for a 3 was a good trade but in general I would prefer holding picks and targeting specific FA talent .

I feel we as fans get caught up in money….no other team cares about overpaying in free agency. I think it’s a necessary evil. Especially when you are in win now mode.

No, they should get the best linebacker, not a linebacker. Jordyn Brooks is much better than any linebacker that was or is available in free agency and it certainly isn't stupid to get him.

Exactly. Only the top 51 players on the 90 man roster count against the cap during the offseason. The Cowboys therefore only need about $7 million of cap space for their draft choices since the picks from rounds 4-7 won't make enough to affect the cap. Even if it's a little more they are sitting on roughly $15 million of room.

All the Cowboys have to do to afford a veteran LB trade is restructure Bland and Ferguson. That's $13 million of space just waiting to be used if they need it.
