Too bad they don't have dills to judge your read and reaction time.

lol, this is starting to sound like last year where There were apparently going to be 25 picks before #9, and Tyron was going to be one of those 25.

Teams fall in love with combine #'s. Its a fact. 6'3 271 35 bench reps and 4.5 40. That is extremely impressive, someone is going to fall in love with him. Im not saying he necessarily is a top 14 player in this draft, but somebody will fall fall in love with his work out #'s. Im going to guess the Bills since they havent had a decent pressure player in forever.

Everything is very unofficial at this point so we gotta tap the breaks.
But it is clear he is an elite athlete.

The 10 yard split alone can mean a guy has (or hasn't) learned how to get out of blocks. Track guys have huge advantages there. But combined with vert and broad jump numbers you see consistent leg power. Perry is a freak clearly.

All that being said, if that holds up that's pretty impressive. For comparison sake, D. Ware was 1.62 and Von Miller was 1.57 also... not sure how official those numbers are though.

Perry is putting up Shawn Merriman type numbers. To jump 38" at 271 lbs is sick. Merriman played at Maryland around 245 and came to the combine at 270. I think Perry will make a HUGE jump up draft boards. Add that to the 9 sacks this year, and 8 sacks as a freshman, he has both talent and production.

he can put up all the Merriman numbers he wants, but I want a Ware not a Merriman.

Merriman was also on some really good drugs.

I do think Perry will be a fast riser. We have always suspected he'd destroy at the combine and he did have collegiate production.

I'd be fine with Perry or Ingram (or a handful of other guys) at 14.

I'd take Ware over the field. I would take a pre-injury Merriman over Spencer and I happen to think Spencer is decent.

This is not take Ware over Perry. We could potentially have both. We are looking for a bookend to pair with Ware, not replace him; unless I missed the offseason news that we cut Ware!!!!!!!

I don't see them running them through the course of the workouts.
All predetermined drills are fine but there is not spontaneity to it

Agreed on Merriman and the Roids of PED's or whatever he took. The way this is shaking out, I'd take either at 14. Perry at 270, his bench press numbers, indicate he should be able to handle the SOLB spot.

So you believe that the combine has raised him from a late 1st rounder to a Top 10 pick?

The combine comes and goes, this is why I don't get so up on it.
Teams will go back and watch tape of these players and then see the true player. Some players make big jumps at the combine and turn out to be busts. These combine numbersshouldn't make teams change their draft boards to much. This isn't a knock on Perry or any othe rplayer. I'm just trying to bring everyone back to reality. Teams will have another 2 months to watch tape on these players. There is much more to getting drafted than running a good 40 or 10 yard split in you undies vs air.

I hope it does. I would be scared to take a player at 14 when he was rated as a late 1st on game tape just because he looked in underwear running around. The tape tells all.

Good point. It happens every year. There are at least a few guys moving up fast, including Poe and Glenn, and, at the very least, several guys who are firmly entrenched in the top 13. There's no guaranteeing any one individual will last to 14 but there's no doubt that at least *some* of these guys will make it to 14.

I just need DeCastro, Glenn (although I'm not 100% sold on the guy) or Poe to be there at 14 and for the FO to have the good sense to know a great player when they see them. I'm afraid of just about everybody else who has been discussed.

Rated by whom? A internet draft site?

That's what people need to be snapped out of, that these draft website rankings have any relevance to how an NFL team with a legitimate scouting department rank players.
