I have to admit I wasnt very familiar with this CB,but after doing some research and checking out Raider boards this guy is the real deal and is flying under the radar compared to Asante Samuel because he only had 1 INT this year, but from what I read he is kinda like Newman that nobody throws his way.Could we get him a tad cheaper than other crazy FA like Samuel?

Hes a bad *** but I dont want him because I cant say his name.

He is going to command top dollar. I would love to grab him but the Raiders will franchise him before they let him go. I live out here in the bay area and that is what all the talk is about with him on the sports radio's shows. He is the one player that they can not let go.

He and Newman are two of the three or four best in the league. No question about it.

Maybe he will Americanize his name. Of course Osi Uminora didn't exactly roll off the tongue at first.

The Raiders are idiots if they let Asomugha get away.

See to me u gotta pay a proven guy at CB now,in this day of passing NFL.

Just call him Joe

There's a group I deal with in the L.A. area from Taiwan and they all have adopted 'Anglo' names. My main contact is Anthony.;)

I would like to have a 1/10 of the money he'll be making in March.

Yes but it's the same arguement from the Samuels thread. Where is the cap space coming from for him and Newman?

Thing is, Newman will be 31 when he's signed to his new contract.

Asomugha will be 26.

LOL

I remember when people (read Raiders fans) were up in arms when Al Davis selected him. He had clearly "lost it."

I make fun of Al Davis now and the too, but make no mistake about it, that skeletal looking gentleman has forgotten more about football than most people will ever know and he hasn't forgotten much.

But Newman doesn't have the mileage a normal 31 year old player would have.

We're going to end up paying to get another CB anyway, unless you guys haven't had your fill of 7th round corners yet?

A corner taken at #22 will cost a fraction of what he'll cost.

So?

He is still 31. His body is still going to break down at whatever his internal clock is set at. And since we don't know what that is....we go by age.

Odds are it will be in the next couple of years.

Hopefully he doesn't get a Nate Clements type contract from us. 4-5 year deal would be ok.

Very solid player but 0% he will ever hit the market. Plus he would be too rich for our blood IMO.
