Not if he wants a Nate Clements type contract and we want to re-sign some of our guys this year. Clements had an $11 million cap hit in '07. Obviously we could structure it differently, but if he wants in that range (and he should), it'd likely be a stiff hit.

Clements' cap number was $11.1 million because the 49ers had a ton of cap room and nobody to spend it on. If they had simply made his $10 million roster bonus a signing bonus, his cap number would have been $2.767 million.

We're going to end up paying to get another CB anyway, unless you guys haven't had your fill of 7th round corners yet?

Which round was DeWayne Goodrich drafted in? That guy was a waste of good space.

A corner taken at #22 will cost a fraction of what he'll cost.

can u depend on an unproven rookie?

He is going to command top dollar. I would love to grab him but the Raiders will franchise him before they let him go. I live out here in the bay area and that is what all the talk is about with him on the sports radio's shows. He is the one player that they can not let go.

Or what they will only win 2 games next year???

seriously wheres the bar on the Raiders?

Like I said, we could structure it differently. I didn't do the math, though, and certainly didn't think it'd be that low.

If we cut Henry in '09 when Newman comes up for a contract, Nnamdi's contract could essentially take Henry's spot.

Sounds doable.

If you can't expect your first round draft pick to contribute as a nickel corner, you have bigger problems (e.g., you might need to fire your scouting staff).

wondering why people seem to take it as a personal insult everytime someone brings up signing a highly rated FA.
You answered your own question:

There are a lot of fantasy threads of this forum

So you're insulted that people are discussing the Cowboys, essentially? That could be a problem on a fan forum.

No, that's not essentially it.
