The NFLs investigation isnt over yet, this is the state saying their investigation is over.

The Justice system though flawed has been in existence longer than the NFL has been around and will be around long after the League folds. Let the Justice system run it's course and discipline if there is a conviction or nolo contendre plea. Simple. That's how every other Commish handled it and handles it. Unless there is a Ray Rice tape...

Sounds like Mara made a little phone call to the league office.

Like i said, Im not happy until the NFL says its over. I dont trust Goodell and Mara.

I am usually not one to think the league is out to get us, but this one just stinks.

Their kicker had TWENTY reported instances of DM.

And he got one game.

I suppose Elliott will get a twenty game suspension for his one allegation. You know, just because.

Isn't this what Big Ben got suspended for?

Not really. Big Ben got an underage girl drunk so he could post his bodyguards at the door while he had sex with her in a public bathroom - that was what prompted the suspension. His actions reflected poorly on the league and violated the conduct policy. That's what the prosecutor found as well, it's just there was nothing to prove he forced her to have sex - which is what they were considering charging him with. Without proving it was forced the only thing they could have prosecuted him for was getting alcohol for an underage (20 year old) girl. But the facts that both the league and the prosecutor agreed upon were enough for the suspension.

I said this in another thread and got laughed at about my "conspiracy" theory. Its pretty obvious NYG gets special treatment when a guy has 20 cases and gets 1 game. DLaw took medication after surgery and got 4 for cripes sake.

First off, you are adding his motives here. Stop saying that crap is fact. Did an girl under the age of 21 drink? Yes. But the "He did it so he could post bodyguards at the door" is pure speculation on your part.

So yes, if he offered the girl alcohol, then the suspension was valid. Having sex with an 18 year old is not against the law and as I've stated, you stating Big Ben's motives is not supported by much of anything unless you were inside his head.

EDIT: Also, reading up on this

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2010-04-13-milledgeville-alcohol_N.htm

"He said of Roethlisberger: "The only way that we could prove the case (providing alcohol to a person under 21) against him, and I've looked at this myself, quite candidly is just through her testimony."

So, yeah, he was suspended due to pure speculation and no actual evidence.

At the end of the day, the onus of the girl being under 21 in a club in the first place should be on the club. If she is in there, its assumed she is of age both for drinking and for the other. This has happened to a few big names out there in the entertainment industry, and its kind of messed up when you think about it. What is a guy supposed to do? ID the girl before he offers her a drink? In a place where she should have already been ID'd correctly? Just my 2 cents.

Apparently, from what I read, this club makes those underage wear wrist bands so everyone knows they are under 21.

But with the link I posted, no one (not even the waitress) knew if Big Ben knowingly gave the girl alcohol. All that came directly from the girl, who was also accusing him of sexual assault with no evidence.

I'm about 99% sure he was suspended due to the lynch mob that surrounds anyone who is accused of sexual assault. Better for the league to suspend Big Ben than let it go.
