I questioned why Pitt traded Pickens. I now know why. Seems this directly correlates to when it came out we would franchise tag him. His body language and effort these last 2 games has been terrible. Great talent but is a huge wildcard to what you get. When he's on, he's one of the best out there.

Also, extending Pickens is going the route of the Bengals. Which hasn't yielded them anything.

I don’t know. Dallas is almost 80 million over the cap now and franchise tagging him will be a direct 30 million hit. I’m sure Dallas can find a way to resign him but I doubt they can franchise him.

You do understand once the team franchises him Pickens and his agent control any trade. The player simply doesn’t sign the tag until a trade of his liking is arranged along with a contract with that team agreed upon. If that is not worked out, and it’s July 16, Pickens has no choice but to sign the tag and play for the Cowboys. But after July 15 he may not be traded and he plays for Dallas and Dallas takes the $28 million cap hit. It’s a risky maneuver and not one that I think Jerry wants to expose the team to.

They just need to sign Pickens to an appropriate contract.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Daks best chance at success is a top flight defense. Look at Seattle. Darnold is basically Dak give or take a few spots. He actually has a shot at a deep playoff run with jsn and Rasheed Shahid. That's what dak needs.

Lol. Fans here are so fickle. GP is a huge asset to the team and has been balling out all year. He needs to play in Dallas next year. Who knows beyond that. One thing is for sure: Fluornoy having two decent games doesn’t mean he’s enough of an impact player to take Pickens’ spot. That’s delusional.

I guess it’s too much to ask for our OL to stay healthy.

Our defense….something has to be done. I don’t buy that it’s totally a coaching issue. It’s a personnel issue as well. Sure hope McClay works some magic for next year.

This year’s team was never expected to contend for a deep playoff run, or to even make the playoffs for that matter. The O/U for games won was 7.5 to start the season. Funny how the oddsmakers are tuned into the pulse of the league.

I agree with your post. But i've never understood the term "stay healthy". Football is built on violence. Large men well over three hundred pounds ramming into each other multiple times per game. Not to mention high impact collisions downfield.

What about any of that allows for someone to stay healthy? This is also why I hate when people talk about two and three year windows for N.F.L. teams. THEY WILL NEVER, EVER EXIST BECAUSE INJURIES TO MAJOR PLAYERS ARE ALL BUT GUARANTEED EACH YEAR IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE. A PLACE WHERE BIGGER, FASTER, AND STRONGER IS KING.
