No FA signing by JJ would've made the Cowboys appreciably better in 2024

What about the upcoming lack of significant signings in 2025-2027? The lack of 24' signings combined with what's coming won't change your mind? Last year was our window, and it closed shut for the next several years. Which again leads me to why the hell did Jerry extend the QB?

i'd love to have seen the difference made or not made by derrick henry on last season.
LOVE to have seen it.
That's cool. I see what you are doing there.

However...just think about it for a minute. It might take you two.

No passing game.

a line that can't make a hole let alone get up the field looking for someone to block.

Play calling that doesn't know what it's doing.

Back up QB.most of the year.

Why would you want to ruin Henry's career?

Maybe Dak doesn't get hurt if we had Henry. Then again the Cowboys don't respect the running game so maybe not. I'll believe we commit to being a running team when I see it. The only way we can win with Dak at this point in his career.

Are you absolving Jerry because no FA(FA’s) would help the abysmal team he assembled?

As for Fangio, it wasn’t a lateral move, he and the Dolphins mutually parted ways.
He's not but he's also correct Jerry only got off the hook because when you have an historic amount of injuries too many to overcome at key positions no matter who you would have added you would have been wasting money on the cap there's no way Derek Henry or saquon Bartley because I know they're stuck in the mind if we had a better run game would've had the same years they had here given our offensive line never even settled down we're playing with practice squad or worse from first to death all over the field but that offensive line it was in flux the whole year so that wouldn't have helped I mean how many holes did you think you could fill with a couple of big name free agents?

So yes Jerry was responsible for not making an effort and he's not off the hook for that but the original poster is correct there would have been no amount of talent added to this team in a reasonable perspective that would have helped given that what we know now we have hindsight it would have been a severe waste of money to add any big name free agents because they probably would have got her too or they wouldn't have lived up to expectations you do realize that free agents don't always live up to the hype even the eagles and they quite a few moves that worked out but that huff guy $37 million he didn't even make the active roster for the Super bowl he was that bad he was supposed to make their pass rush better from the outside and he was one of their worst defensive players it happens...

So given what we know now the original thought that the original poster have is 100% correct we had way too many holes way too many injuries to overcome and it would've been a waste of money.

But that doesn't mean Jerry's off the hook we still want him to be more aggressive this year he needs to make a few more moves he doesn't need to go all in but he needs to make a better effort...

I mean not even the San Francisco 49ers who were very much like the eagles and other teams they have better coaching Staffs more depth they make more moves in the offseason it didn't help them either they're in the same exact spot we were I think that's the point you're trying to make as we could have overcome all the injuries too many especially at the same positions it's just completely obliterated this roster.

I didn't look up the year but I'm pretty sure 2020-2021 was the year that Gallup lamb and amari Cooper I don't see him on that list but I'm almost positive he was there in 2021(maybe it was 2020 but still that was beter depth than the last 2 years) they all almost had 1000 yards each. And then you bolster that with depth by Cedric Wilson and Noah brown and that is one of the best that dak ever had here as far as depth from top to bottom at the wide receiver core +2 good running backs 2021 Ezekiel Elliott was still running pretty good even though he got banged in the knee I believe it's and it's hard for me to remember everything but that happened in the middle of the season and it pretty much ruined the rest of his year with the knee injury... But the roster was better.

Agreed. With all the things at play during the season, I doubt even Henry revives the run game. I believe HIS chances of injury increase significantly.

To add: An org that in all likelihood would not understand how to use Henry.

Henry's YPC in 23 w/ the Titans was 4.2. No, not terrible, but not game changing by any means. That's more like what he would've done here.

He was great w/ BALT due to a great scheme fit and a coaching staff who knows how to use him and an OL that opens holes.

Yes because before that backup came in Dak Attack was lighting it up.

What are you talking about? Sure Philly had plenty of drafted talent, but adding Barkley , Zack Baun , and Oren Burks was HUGE.

The problem in Dallas is that we let a bunch of guys walk several of whom were key cogs in the Washington resurgence, and we did nothing to replace them. Jerry basically sat out the off season until the draft. You can't do that in a competitive football league.

neat story.
but i'm sure derrick henry would've done just fine.
our inept gm should be charged with criminal negligence.

The eagles didn’t win because of offseason signings?

They got to the Super Bowl off offseason signings without Barkley you think they go past the wild card?

Without Baun you think they go past the wild card?

What qualities about our team makes you think Henry would have succeeded here and made any realistic difference.

my "story" is every bit as valid as YOUR "story".

Cooper?

This is a woefully misinformed post. Yeah those FAs which includes and MVP candidate and a DPOY candidate weren't a massive part of the reason they won. It's almost like you didn't watch any of their games
This core group had a late SB lead two years ago and a 10-1 start the following year. Those guy strengthen what was already a championship level core

Doing something in free agency doesn’t make this team better? Really? It could have helped close some of the many holes this team has. They had no running back for half the season. Signing Henry, who didn’t break the bank, would have been big for this team. I’m not saying he has the same year as he did for Baltimore but having a threat of the run game would have changed things. That’s just one free agent.
Doing nothing and saying it was the right thing is a loser mentality.
No signing would've put anywhere near their level this season. And it would've been a waste of money
