No improvement I could see with Bobby Carpenter

I'll start by saying I use to be a big Bobby Carpenter fan but even my patients has been exhausted.

I thought Bobby had great tools with his size and speed and thought by year 3 with coaching and being in the NFL he was going to be a cross between Brian Urlacher and Jack Ham.

During the game I somewhat isolated on him to see what he would make out of his opportunity this year to redeem himself and prove us wrong about his first few years .

What I saw last night is that he hasn't learned or is not willing to learn to game at the NFL level. He still (like day one) lets blockers get their hands on him. He lets blockers escort him to the door out of the play. Doesn't use his hands or sheds blocks. He has no anticipation (football instincts) it seems, he does not attack the hole, he stands back and waits for the play to come to him. These are all things he should have learned and put into practice by now, I've seen no improvement.

Im ready and I think the Cowboys should move on and fill his spot with their draft choices or a better player in the final cuts before the season starts.

And he turned out to be a cross between Brian Boitano and a Ham Sandwich. :bang2:

Thought Brooking showed a little speed on that sack up the middle.

Quite a few people are saying Barbie looked good in coverage. He had that one good play, but he still looked too timid to me when filling the hole. I think he'll be adequate in nickle where coverage is the key, but if he has to fill in for James or Brooking for more than a game or two, we are in trouble.

Looked good at times, and then I would think he looks out of the play on others.
But then again, what we see on tv as fans, is so much different then the game films for the coaches.

not giving him a pass or making an excuse. But I came away thinking he needs to show a lot more than that.

Dunham & Miller was talking about that this morning. They were saying, yes this is the 1st preseason game and you need to give them a little something on that [as a team they said that].
But then they turned and bagged on Carpenter...hypocritical on their part....

But I was hoping / expecting a little more.

I honestly thought that against 2nd and 3rd stringers that maybe he'd show a little dominance, but not really. He's credited with 1 tackle. For as much playing time as he had vs their scrubs....

it's clear some people don't watch the game or know how to watch the game and then throw opinions out based on previous perception.

:hammer:

He could have 20 tackles and 10 sacks in a game and people would say it was against scrubs so it doesn't count.

Um..what game were you watching? He played pretty damn well. He was flowing to the ball better than he has in the past and made several plays in coverage. He wasnt exceptional or anything but he played solid football last night.

He is not an aggressive tackler he is even hesitant when the ball carrier is in the grasp of another tackler, he looks like he is afraid to get a penalty for a late hit or something. There were couple of times where a tackled happened in front of him and he looked like he was playing patty cake with the blocker near him instead of flowing to the pile.
