No longer push overs on the Offensive line

LT Guyton 6’7” 322 lbs
LG Smith 6’6” 332 lbs
C Beebe 6’4” 335 lbs

This is the future. Beebe may not be the starting center this season as Hoffman at 6’4” 302 lbs looks the part, but I believe he’ll eventually take over. If so, can you imagine run sweeps to the left? Dak will tell the defense, “Hey, we’re running a sweep left.” Then run the sweep and watch the pins fall. 5 yards a play easy. And the play action off of that? Haven’t even mentioned Martin and Steele. Question is, can MM adapt his WCO to take advantage.

I'm more concerned with the running scheme.

Clearly last year was a flop.
Good point. MM is a WCO guy. He needs to embrace the run more. His question is who is good enough to get the rock? As of July 30th there is no one that can be counted on to get 4 yards a carry to run out the clock.

It’s a position to watch closely between now and opening day.

Just wish they would have added some new youth at RB to go with the Oline youth overhaul. Offensive line is not only the most successful position to succeed with early round draft picks (someone posted the position success numbers a few weeks ago in a thread) but Cowboys seem to have a knack for it, so hoping these guys become studs. It’s a damn shame we never went anywhere when Tyron, Fredbeard, Zack and Zeke were at their peak.

Can you imagine 320+ LB guys running sweeps in the NFL?
Can you imagine gassed players trying to pass protect against Uber speedy and athletic defenders?
Can you imagine ankle and knee injuries piling up with these guy trying run and cut?
Good thoughts, kind of uninformed a bit, but don’t quit!

What will make a difference is if these guys also have the beef along with the ability to get to the 2nd level/pull.
NFL always is on a roller coaster of sorts for what they want out of players in terms of size.
It's big, strong and mauling, then smaller, technical but quicker.
The ZBS sort of eliminated the need for the bigger OL as it neutralized the big ole DL guys who couldn't go lateral.

The holy grail is combining the size and strength with quickness and technical.
Seems like Guyton could be that blend of OL as well.

Better yet, if Zack Martin goes down with injury due to age (or if he retires after this season), imagine Beebe take over at Right Guard?

Cowboys would have (Left - Right):

LT Guyton 6’7” 322 lbs - age 22
LG Smith 6’6” 332 lbs - age 23
C Hoffman 6'4" 302 lbs - age 25
RG Beebe 6'4" 335 lbs - age 23
RT Steele 6'6" 310 lbs - age 27

That's a lot of beef, strong, mobile and an average age of 24 for an Oline capable of lasting many years.

Where's the beef?

Looks like the Cowboys have done well to answer them Wendy's ol' ladies! :D;)

Size with poor technique is nothing. Size with poor scheme is nothing. We’ll see come game day. I am hoping it comes together. I have hope.

Delusional to say the least, Dak will more likely say I’m going to throw a pick six, it doesn’t matter because I got the bag

7 were taken in the 4th round 2024 including the Eagles who love to run the ball . We got a possible back up QB round 4 .

Agreed. I was furious (still am) Jerry wasted our original 2024 4th round pick on a BUST QB. We could have used that 4th round pick on one of many good RBs who were available when our original 4th round pick came around for the 49ers.

:banghead:

Jerry keeps on hurting the Cowboys.

I agree, but I'm not sure the team ownership is.
