No. Matt Farniok's RAS score was at 9.91

One of the best RAS scores among all Cowboys Olinemen.

Impressive, thank you kind sir. There's no reason not to have legitimate for him to develop.

Chaz Green looked like he could play the game in limited snaps his second season (after he missed most of his rookie year). Then, the next season, he got exposed against Atlanta and was never the same.
They switched Green to G in the offseason, then threw him back in at LT mid-season.
He played 3 years in the league after us. Obviously just a marginal player, but put a marginal player in a bad situation, and you get an ugly outcome.
Raw deal.

He has as good a chance to help at guard and center as anybody on the roster,I have seen him look aggressive down field on running plays,he’s big and athletic

Its 9.89 not 9.99, and thats his Pro Day. You have to take any Pro Day results with a huge grain of salt. Farniok measuring that well seems like home cooking
9.89 or 9.9.. It's still up there. I guess I was thinking of Mazi Smith. I just knew Farniok has an outrageous RAS.

The reason I think they like Farniok as an option is because they could utilize his athleticism to run outside, pulling, etc.

Farnoik is the Cowboys top interior backup. The coaches believe in him. I remember against Tampa, game 1 when McGovern was injured. The Cowboys did not miss a beat. Good player. The Cowboys backup offensive linemen appear to be a underestimated strength of the team.
I agree with this. I would still like to see Jason Peters come back to camp, in one capacity or another. We'll see, I guess.

I feel fine with Farniok as a backup and starting some games if he's needed. I think he's shown enough to be the primary swing interior player. Edoga has a lot of potential but has spent a lot of time injured so despite potential talent I'm not sure he can be counted on. Hope he puts it all together though!

To me more question marks will be at the backup tackles going into camp, but agree Farniok is being a bit overlooked and is the one backup I feel good about.

This shows 9.89. Which goes to show how much stock we can put into an RAS from home cooked test scores

Home cooked test scores? What are you talking about? RAS scores are made upon the skills and endurance test results done at the NFL Combine and Pro Day.

If anything is "home cooked" it's those dumb PFF scores.

You almost have to try to have a PFF grade below 40…but somehow he managed to do it…
PFF is a joke!!!

Here is some proof...

Matt Farniok

Tyler Smith
PCIMG-2023-05-29-19-13-41.jpg

Perfect example of PFF being seriously messed up. Granted, Tyler Smith played for over 900 more snaps all season (since he started every game) than Matt Farniok, but the point still remains: Farniok only had 1 penalty and 0 sacks during the 191 snaps that he played in 2022, yet he got graded a 39.1??? While Tyler Smith committed 13 penalties and gave up 6 sacks during the 1,144 snaps he played in 2022, yet he got graded a 71.4???
That's some seriously messed up grading by PFF, and anyone who uses PFF as "evidence" in an argument looks pretty messed up as well.

PFF is a joke!

Peters is done. When he started playing more his body broke down. I am praying that Tyron accepts the swing tackle position but gets a larger number of snaps then the average swing tackle when we run our unbalanced fronts. So important for the Cowboys to get consistency with our starters.

I'm not a huge fan of PFF as anything but a general range and one source, but your reasoning doesn't even make any sense at all. I don't think you have any idea how their rankings work. You don't need a penalty or to give up a sack to have a negatively graded play. And using Tyler as an example to state Farniok is ranked too low is absoutely bizarre after watching the two players play assuming you watched the Cowboy games

I have read their company reasoning as to how they grade players. It's pathetic because they clearly don't know how to grade Olinemen. I'm sure neither do you. I'm willing to bet neither them or you played and starred playing on the Oline. A total joke. So glad the Cowboys disagree with y'all.

The Cowboys disagree? You think Farniok is going to play?

Prepare yourself for...Matt Waletzko and (wispers quietly) Josh Ball.
Those are pretty much the only options. Maybe Ball can pull a Steele and go from bad to good in an offseason? Waletzko we have no idea what we got. Edoga has played tackle as well.

So much talk about needing a LG when we have Tyler Smith and Matt Farniok. I guess not many see promise in Farniok's game? I thought he looked OK out there last year and I expect him to improve this year.

9.99 RAS means he has the physical tools to be a good player.
It’s not too dissimilar to Steele a year or two ago. He didn’t look great but his progress has been rapid and he’s apparently a worker so who knows.

Back then though we had La’el so it wasn’t as critical.

We don't but the Cowboys do and from what they have said everything is looking pretty good.
I want to see him in a preseason game. I anticipate this preseason being especially hard on me, because I want everyone to make the team. :)

Sign 'em all up. I'm sure some of there'd be ones you would otherwise cut who would step up over time.
