They switched Green to G in the offseason, then threw him back in at LT mid-season.
He played 3 years in the league after us. Obviously just a marginal player, but put a marginal player in a bad situation, and you get an ugly outcome.
Raw deal.
And we've been playing Farniok at center and guard. May just be a marginal player, too.

Not saying I know how it will turn out, but none of us do. I can't put my faith in that. If I had more evidence to feel like I could predict an outcome, that would be different. Of course, Dallas' handling of the OL would be as well.

So I can give Farniok some love in that I've liked most of what I've seen from him so far, but can't go far enough to say I trust that because we haven't been shown enough for that. The true test is when you are named the starter and defenders start studying what you do well and what you do poorly so they can exploit your weaknesses.

Home cooked test scores? What are you talking about? RAS scores are made upon the skills and endurance test results done at the NFL Combine and Pro Day.

If anything is "home cooked" it's those dumb PFF scores.
Pro day scores are home cooked

You're dealing with couch GMs and Coaches and Scouts that think they know what they talking about. They think just because they been watching football from the 70s that they know what they talking about. The amount of people that speak in absolutes on this forum is astounding.

Quite true.

What is sad is all the mistakes the professionals make. The so called experts make. What is their excuse when even the dumbest fanboob can spot a mistake and they cannot?

I have had my eye on Farniok since I first saw him play his first preseason game. What I am hoping is he improves at least as much as McGovern did over his season with Dallas. But I think he has more potential than McGovern. This may be his year, or maybe next year will be it for him, but I do think he can develop into a reliable starter.

I thought he looked better at C than OG when he played, but maybe he improves at guard over time. I thought he might beat out Biadasz last year, but Biadasz improved quite a bit as well. But Farniok does need to get a bit stronger and a bit quicker moving laterally. He is one guy to watch this summer.

Compared to his contemporaries Garrett doesn't hold up, but compared to this forum, Garrett runs circles around yall football knowledge, especially you cause I touched a nerve that you felt the need to respond lol. Nobody ever stopped yall so called experts from getting yall dream jobs. But here yall are.

It sets some expectations as to some of the player inactivities or restrictions leading up to the Training Camp environment.

No where stupid or an act of futility...unless someone needs to be spoon fed with a silver spoon.

He initially was reported as being a strong player to grow into one of the interior positions...I'm still watching and expecting progress from the young player,

Mailbag: Another Player Like Steele on the Roster?

Patrik: I love this question because it also acknowledges the road Steele has traveled to become a definitive starter in the NFL, up from the ranks of the undrafted. I'm on record as saying I wanted the team to address the offensive line on the first two days of the draft, but I do love the potential of Asim Richards; though I'll go a bit deeper in answering your question and draw a circle around Matt Farniok and Alec Lindstrom — a former seventh-round pick (2021) and undrafted talent (2022), respectively. Jerry Jones spoke a lot about needing the young guys to step up and both Farniok and Lindstrom have the ability, they simply need to make the jump in 2023 to help solidify the interior of the offensive line. That is especially true with Tyler Biadasz entering a contract season. So if I had to place my bet on who might be the next Terence Steele, I'd probably bet on one of those two guys.

This also describes the people PFF "hires" to grade players.

No. Matt Farniok's RAS score was at 9.91

https://ras.football/dallas-cowboys-ras-team-page/

One of the best RAS scores among all Cowboys Olinemen.
This shows 9.89. Which goes to show how much stock we can put into an RAS from home cooked test scores

I guess it depends on the time of day.

I’d be shocked if Farniok was our first choice for even backup LG. To me it would mean we kind of struck out with our draft picks and also on Edoga. I also happen to think Edoga is better than many here seem to, think Farniok is only going to be seen as a center unless a mid game injury forces him into action as his position flex will have him active on game day if we don’t bring in another center and lastly I think we sign another OL before the season starts amd maybe as late as cut down day. Hose are the main reasons I doubt he is on our radar for PT as an OG…also, and probably most importantly, I don’t think he played very well when given a chance
I'm not looking at ..nor can be encouraged with Farniok as a LG.

He easily adds his best value as a backup center ,..to which we do not have.

Probably makes roster by default based off center experience.

McGovern finally was let in to play center but he is gone now.

They will experiment with rookies that are most hopeful to make the team ( Richards) at center.
