No Merriman vs Ware thread yet ?!?!?

I'm more worried about us winning tomorrow. You might be ok with 2nd place, I'm tired of it.

I said I'm happy with Ware. He's a good player. I'm also aware he's not in the same league as Merriman. It doesn't matter. Ware is a Cowboy and he has my full support. When I'm asked to compare though, I'm not going to all the sudden go blind. I call it as I see it.

Zero TD's to two TD's Two differnt Ways (FR, INT)

Has gotten burned anytime he's in converage (Game winning TD Scored on him) to Shuts down any WR or RB he's covering

So, he can get lots of sacks, but cant do anything else

Ware can get sacks, INT's, FR, And can cover

But yea your right, Merriman Is just absolutly better than Ware, and the best OLB in the game huh

Ware is already a good player, but I agree he isn't near Merriman's level right now.

I doubt Merriman will ever be off the roids. He'll just be more careful in beating the system.

Still, I'd rather have the good, clean player in Ware than a dominating monster that could be suspended at any moment.

You don't need to take steroids nowadays. The only difference between them and over the counter supplements is a matter of weeks. Supplements nowadays are darn near as effective as steroids.

Come on now. I took my blue colored glasses off long ago on this matter. Merriman is a man among kids out there. It doesn't matter who coaches the guy, he's flat out dominating.

Ware is a nice player that could develop into a good player. Merriman is a monster.

Did you check double Digit sackers that Cowboys had this year? Oh yeah, none. How many do Chargers have? Two already. You realize, Shawn Merriman is really not their Best D player but just the showman more like, unless you are the TV analyst types, who just sees the sacks and his stupid LIghts out dance.

Shawn Merriman is definetly a very good LB, not the great one his stats make him out to be. Its not like he is the only guy on the team that has double digit sacks or he is the guy that is being double or triple teamed. Heck any teams who plays SD, has to worry about Jamal Williams first, Lious Castillo, and Shaun Phillips apart from Shawn Merriman. Thats why Shawn gets so many opportunities unlike Ware and unlike Ware, you rarely see him drop back in coverage.

Having said that, would it be great to have Shawn Merriman on one side and Ware on other? Heck yeah, but I still stake Ware over Merriman, since Ware is only going to get better, especially as the talent around him gets better since SD is much more veteran team than Cowboys on D.

It's nothing to be a homer about. Merriman has been doing this since his days as a Maryland Terrapin. He's had a great transition to the pros because Maryland plays a lot of 3-4. He's seriously a god gifted monster. And no steroids did not play a role in this (they were found in his system in august). DeMarcus Ware is a great player but Shawne Merriman is clearly the most dominant LB in the league. Damn why did the Skins chose Carlos "cant catch" Rogers over Ware and Merriman?

His point is that Ware can Cover almost any Tight end in the league

He can Rush any Tackle in the league (spare orlando pace and ogden)

He is a dominator in rush defense and seals the edge every time.



Merriman can.......Rush the passer like no other,

Who cares who's actually better they're two of the best young stud pass rushers in the league.

In my opinion personally I think merriman is the better player right now.
Honestly all bias aside wether he's rushing off the line or blitzing (I have the ticket so i actually watch their games) he's more effective rushing the passer than ware is.

I think right now ware is better against the run though because he is tough to get outside of.

But overall in the NFL gamebreakers make a difference and quite frankly merriman is the better playmaker.

And beleive me guys if physically ware was able to hold up rushing the passer all day like merriman can, parcells would let him.

You're talking about a guy who had lawrence taylor!!, he wanted this 3-4 because thats what he loves.

I think merriman is the closest thing to L.T, but ware is a good one too.

Ware reminds me more of john abraham, and mcginnest (which aint bad at all)

Bottom line for me is that i think parcells in the back of his mind might have his second thoughts because 15.5 sacks and the guy missed 4 games is one hell of a season, but to even have a guy to actually compare to that and is a more complete linebacker right now isn't bad either.

But you guys have to admit that the boys gave merriman a very hard look before we decided to go with ware,

and merriman has a motor that to me makes the difference between him and ware because if ware played with that mean streak parcells asked him to have he would double his sack total.

Merriman plays with that killer instinct its like he smells blood, but ware does it like its effortless, but just imagine if he got pissed off.

Plus he would make the most dangerous weapon in the league Roy Williams into once again our best player on the team and up for DPOY.

Sure, Merriman is a Monster now, but he is like all these ONE HIT WONDERS at the LB position... He will not last. Have you seen anyone put up those numbers consistantly through out their careers? We drafted Ware because he is a Career Player... He is a standup player that will bring pro-bowl numbers every year. There's no hype or Steriods in his game, he brings a leadership quality to the team, and thats why Parcells passed on the ROID RAGE. All Ware needs is a complementary player, thats where you will see the difference.

Yeah, Merriman probably just graduated to Human growth hormones, which the NFL doesn't test for. Bottom line is this, no one who gets caught cheating during the season should get any accolades at the end. Also, his stats from before the suspension should be wiped out to be fair the the players who are playing by the rules.

Hey guys..... I am the biggest cowboy fan on Earth, but if you can't see that Merriman is the most dominant linebacker in the game then you are just a blind homer...

Also, if you don't think Ware has ever done steroids.....you are just naive. I would guess that 80% of all NFL players have done a cycle at least once in their life, and probably 99% of all linebackers.

Ware:


2 1st down sacks.
2 2nd down sacks.
3.5 3rd down sacks.

THe highlighted part tells me all I need to know.

With Ware getting most of his sacks on 3rd down, this means to me that Ware's in coverage on most 1st downs. So let's just say that's 100 plays or so that Ware is in coverage more, that would explain the production.

Note to Parcells:
Let Ware rush the QB please.
