Dallas this year. My opinion is take the best player available at 22 and see if you can trade out of 28 and possibly get somebody's #1 next year along with a #2 this year. The talent drops off around 21 and stays strong through the middle of round 2.

If that can't happen I would trade to get an impact player this year either through the draft or trade.

Dallas has a small window and a lot of talent. They must take advantage of that now.

Before someone jumps all over me, I am not saying mortgage the future but the time to add the pieces is now.

No WR this year is better then Crayton. I am not saying that Crayton is that good I am saying the draft class at WR is that bad.

We are fairly deep across the board and have solid starters. I'm hoping we draft players at 22 and 28 that can push for significant playing time and become starters in the future. We are in a position to draft for quality and the future.

Pure nonesense. where is all this talent you are talking about. your SS Roy williams, is terrible. your DB's cant cover or tackle. and you have one RB. this team is still full of holes. we need to keep our picks and fix these problems. the idea that we have so much talent and dont need anything is crazy.

I wouldn't be surprised at all for us to trade out of the first and back up with either or both picks. I think the picks at CB and RB will have more to do with that (along with a willing partner) more than WR but its all guess work from here. Pacman and a trade will also influence what we do. We'd do well if we get Pacman and a WR to trade our one for a two and a one in next year's draft. Just not Cleveland. From 1 to 22 sux.

As long as the help out, especially on ST's, that is what is important. Adding young talent is very important.

You may not be satisfied with him as a #2 but about 75% of the teams in the NFL would be.

I do agree we need to upgrade but Crayton can be the #2 guy and we wont miss a beat.

I've never seen a guy on our team that gets more respect from other teams fans than our own fans like this guy.

How convenient. If Dallas was picking 23rd, would the the talent drop off at #22?

It doesnt matter anyways because regardless someone talented is going to fall into the 20's.

It happens every year.

I don't think we can determine such a move beforehand. It all depends on who is available and how they fit our needs now and in the next few years.

For instance, if getting a running back is a high priority, but Dallas determines that there is not much difference between a Felix Jones and a Ray Rice, then I think a tradedown would be favorable.

But I don't want Dallas to trade away from a player it feels is better just because we have a lot of roster spots filled. We endured that philosophy in the mid-1990s and it landed us a lot of mediocre players.

Pretty much outside of the Oline and QB, the starter title dont mean crap. Barber was the better back last year and did not start till the last game. Who ever we draft in the first will play a large part next year. Starter or not. Kinda like Ginobilli coming of the bench for the Spurs. True nuff, but he always ends up with 25-30 minutes (starter minutes). The Draftees will play and contribute.

We can probably get some solid contributors in the draft. But the reality of it is, we probably aren't going to get many starters immediately.

QB? No way.
RB? Doubtful. Are there RBs who probably will be better than Barber? Sure. But next year? Doubtful. They'll be rookies and learning pass protection, adjusting to the NFL, etc. It will be unlikely a rookie RB unseats Barber next year.
WR? Possibly.
TE? No.
OL? Doubtful. Even if we went OL in round 1, they'd be hard pressed to beat out a starter.

DL? Maybe.
LBer? While we may not have a great LB group, it is a pretty damn solid one. And if we draft a LBer, that player would have a pretty decent struggle to beat out any of our LBers
CB? Again, probably not going to beat out Henry. But since nickel CBs play a lot, I guess you could throw it into the possible starting role.
S? Well, ..... we'll just skip.

The reality of it is, heading into next season, the starting roles are pretty well defined and it would take a heckuva preseason/training camp for any rookie to beat out the incumbent starter. We definitely need help at some positions in the near future (WR, for example), but as for next year specifically.....well, the rookies will probably bide their time somewhat and be relied upon more as contributors than starters.
