Dallas this year. My opinion is take the best player available at 22 and see if you can trade out of 28 and possibly get somebody's #1 next year along with a #2 this year. The talent drops off around 21 and stays strong through the middle of round 2.

If that can't happen I would trade to get an impact player this year either through the draft or trade.

Dallas has a small window and a lot of talent. They must take advantage of that now.

Before someone jumps all over me, I am not saying mortgage the future but the time to add the pieces is now.
I believe there will be impact players still available at picks 22 and 28. It won't be Darren McFadden, but this draft is so stacked that players that would normally be drafted in the top 15 will probably get pushed into the second portion of the first round and maybe even the early second. With that said, I think the Cowboys stay put.

If the thread is so ********, just don't post in it. Simple as that.

You may not be satisfied with him as a #2 but about 75% of the teams in the NFL would be.

I do agree we need to upgrade but Crayton can be the #2 guy and we wont miss a beat.

I've never seen a guy on our team that gets more respect from other teams fans than our own fans like this guy.
I agree with you. We could definitely use an improvement but Crayton did a good job for us last year as a #2 with the exception of the playoff game. The problem is that we need someone that can fill the #1 position in case Owens gets hurt again...Crayton is not that guy.

Don't think you could go wrong staying put or trading the 28th pick for extra picks. I think either option the cowboys will have their list of players they want.

A WR chosen in the 1st round has a good chance to start.

not in this years crop, especially where we're drafting at

now they might get a starting WR with a 1st rd pick, but it wont be someone we drafted

If they do trade for Adam Jones, drafting a safety like Kenny Phillips I think becomes more of a possibility...I dont think they are giving Hamlin a long term deal anytime soon (if at all) and RW could easily be in his last year here...and this yr Phillips plays a role in the nickel D and on special teams

not saying its what I want them to do, but I can see why they'd do something like that

this team is not hurting so stop with the chicken little crap. I'm not saying they do not have needs.
You stop fooling yourself. this teams needs a lot of help. CB,SS, RB WR, and a OG. Roy williams can not start for us anymore. he is flatout terrible.we neefd to improve on Klye kosier. we need a speed RB. Our starting WR's are 35 years old. we have no real NT. Tank is a backup at best. this team has lot's of needs. so get real.

gee...cant name many 13-3 teams that are the 3rd youngest in football, have franchise calibar players at a number of positions and still "needs a lot of help"

they could not make a single move the rest of the offseason and skip the draft entirely and still be a solid favorite to be in the super bowl

We were a legitimate 13-3 team. So we are NOT full of holes like some numbies here think. Clearly not real cowboy fans. Or fans at all.

We have one hole for sure at CB, and we have need of a backup or part time guy at RB. We could use youth at WR, but its not a need.
Now some could argue that Roy Williams is a hole.....

but we didn't lose, did we? and 11-5 - what was the giants record when they went on to win the superbowl?

we've got a great core and a hell of a start. *this* is the time to play smart and not roll the dice on a huge gamble and while we could win big, we could also lose all progress we've made.

take your IGS agenda and just chill out dude.

Tank a backup at best? He could start for about 90% of NFL teams. Thats real.:star:

If a guy like Thomas or Sweed comes in and plays to their potential they would start over Crayton. At the same time Crayton is no slouch and most rookie WR dont come in and play to their potential.

someone here seems to think his opinions are facts. Pretty pathetic.

Outside of Roy, we had a DOZEN legitimate Pro Bowl players. Even the ones that got in as alternates are still probably top 5 in the NFC. And top 10 in the NFL. Now maybe where a certain poster dwells that does not mean much, but in the real world of the NFL it means that we have a VERY TALENTED ROSTER.

First of all, your 3rd string CB is going to be on the field about 65% of the time; your 3rd string WR is going to be on the field maybe 40-50% of the time.

Just because a guy doesn't start the game or play on first down doesn't mean he's not critical to your team's success.

We're not going to always be as lucky to avoid injuries as last season either...the first backup has to be able to step in and get the job done unless you want your season to blow up by a few injuries.

The draft is the most important part of keeping a competitive team in the NFL.

I don't have a problem trading out of round 1 if there are no players you value when you're on the clock and someone else wants to make a trade, but you don't do it based on whether your first round pick, especially at the bottom of round 1, can start or not in his rookie year.

A player that is picked at #22 and below that starts right off means one of two things: you had a really BIG hole there or your roster is pretty weak.

"Start" is an overused term. Burnett didn't "start" last season, but he played alot in certain packages and on special teams. If we could replace what he did (rather poorly iirc) then basically we're getting a starter.

If we can get a dynamic receiver to come in and do what Steve Smith did for Eli late last season, basically we're getting a starter.

If we can get a back to spell Marion and keep him fresh all season, basically we're getting a starter.

If we can get a nickel corner to come in and make some plays, basically we're getting a starter.

IMO, we should do our best to draft starters at all 4 of those positions in this draft.
