No trade clause for Dak

I keep seeing all the blame going towards the front office on the delay - but it very well could have been on Prescott's side. Why would Prescott (or agent) really be in any hurry, he was already under contract for 2024. The going rate was already set between 55-60 mil/year. Average QB's will get over 50 mil/year so take a step back and see that this is not just a Cowboys problem, every NFL team is staring at the same issue. There is not a QB prospect in the upcoming draft that is easily identifiable as a starting upper-level NFL QB. The problem is not Prescott or Jones, it's the lack of a league-wide position salary structure. Until there is a set structure in place that correlates to the salary cap, the whole thing is a mess.

So what? He's going to be 35 when this deal expires. If he gets another contract here or anywhere else, it's going to be a heck of a lot cheaper anyway.

It's all about this four year window with Dak now. I think there's zero incentive to trade anyway given the financial investment.
It’s actually 5 years as he will play out his last season of his current contract first.

Jerry left himself no other choice.....smart teams forsee situations and draft BEFORE the need becomes a crisis..

The Packers always draft a quality QB before they need one. Chiefs moved up to draft mahomes even though Alex Smith was a 12-4 and won the division. Hell, even the Niners drafted Ricky Pearsol in the 1st round because they got wind that Ayouk was gonna demand a new contract
They ain’t got a backup now.

Some will get up in arms about it but realistically Cowboys would never trade Dak and if he wanted to leave he would waive it.
It's a moot point at this point of his career. History repeats itself with the Jonses.

Romo was kept here approx 12 years, Dak was drafted and Romo was never resigned.

After Daks present contract expires he will have been here 12 years and Jerry will probably draft another 4th to 7th round Qb, or UDFA, or USFL QB and Dak will wind up in the boof.

Homeostasis and relevancy acheived

There is absolutely no reason why Dallas should have given him a no-trade clause.

I am fine with resigning him, but I would want a way out after a year or two and start the rebuild if things keep going south in the playoffs.
Its hard to imagine anything Jerry did not give up in this contract ?
I guess the entire contract could have been guarenteed ? LOL
So boys and girls enjoy the regular season wins against the bad and average teams and get prepared to get spanked regularly in the playoffs.
Dak has proven he not a prime time player.

Nice negotiating Jonses. Made him the highest paid player, gave him a short term, gave him the no trade and no franchise tag clauses on top of a nearly fully guaranteed contract, all without forcing Dak to make 1 little concession....bravo!

I dont think its a bad plan to spend like a 2nd or 3rd on one and see if he can replace Rush next season and go from there or if not next year then in 2026..
