Everyone already knows the season is sunk regardless if Romo goes down early. If it's season ending it doesn't even matter if it's late. At this point there is nothing but junk left out there in FA, or guys we would have to give up too much to trade for - that won't even provide anything substantial ie championship. Give Dak and Showers the reps, and unless they also get hurt, ride it out, and figure out what they can do and the plan for next offseason.

What happens if Romo gets hurt for 2 or 3 games? And we lose all three and just barely miss the playoffs because we had no backup QB. We'll be stuck in the middle again. You can't go into a season with backups that have no NFL experience.

In the seasons we had vet backups and Romo missed games, how many times did they get us into the playoffs? I count zero.

The reality is that Dallas is a playoff caliber team like it or not and with a O-line that can dictate play and a QB that is elite in Romo you don't risk missing the playoffs and winning the division with not having a guy that gives you a chance if Romo were out for a small stretch.

I think Dallas is a playoff caliber team with a decent QB. But the kinds of QBs that could go .500 with this team aren't going to be had for a reasonable price, if they could even be had at all. Orton was the best backup the team has had in the Romo era, and even he couldn't deliver when it was "win and in".

The team wasn't going to the playoffs anyway. Playoff appearances have been few and far between even when Romo is playing well.

I'd rather do that than go 8-8 or 7-9....or omg go 9-7 and lose in the wild card round. Maybe I'm in the minority in that regard.

The issue is if Romo misses something like 4 games. You would like your backup to win 50% of games if you think you have a good team. With Dak, we'd go 0-4.

If there is a shot at getting Romo to the playoffs then I want in the playoffs.

Romo is 36 and has limited time left in this league and I want every playoff chance we can get.

If he is done for the season then i'm fine with tanking.

They wont as soon as a vet gets dropped they will move to acquire him. Hopefully they can close the deal though.

This is the best viewpoint. No sense reliving last year if Romo gets hurt trying to teach an old dog new tricks on the fly. About the only player who could show up knowing Linehan's system would be Shaun Hill.
