The Packers may have the best pass blocking OL in the league-- maybe even better than ours.

I don't think our pass rush is going to be a factor, tbh.

Hopefully we can just keep him contained in the pocket and Sean Lee can match wits.

That said, who cares, we're putting up 45+

Agreed. They are very good up front. I have a hunch our line will have its moments though.

I would strongly disagree with that statement
Team - Sacks Allowed - Sacks

Commanders - 4th - 0
Vikings- 23rd - 3
Giants - 3rd - 2
Bucs - 16th - 4
Lions - 21st - 4
Eagles - 14th - 2

So we racked up 11 of our 15 sacks in the last 6 games against teams in the bottom half of the league in taking sacks. In two games against top 10 teams we had two total.

This doesn't even take into account that 5 of these 6 teams are ranked in the bottom half of scoring in the league. The only team in the top half, we didn't touch.

But, since GB is an average offense and surrenders a lot of sacks - 22nd in sacks allowed - yes, GB is going to be aware of our pass rush.
So did they...with Seattle being an arguable exception.
Uh - ok. What does that have to do with Dallas rushing the quarterback?

why shouldn't the packers fear this?
To busy sitting on their you no what's worshipping Arron Rogers like some sacred cow, it's going to be a fun game, stressful I'm sure...but bring it on GB if you think your defense can cover Dez, Jason, Terrence, Cole....and stop Dmac and Zeke, prove it.

Absolutely nothing...but it DOES have something to do with the line of thinking/rationale being expressed...our success is dismissed because we had a powder puff schedule and their streak is applauded and AR is held up as the greatest ever (not by you but alluding to the media coverage and fan reaction) even though their schedule wasn't a murderer's row, either (offensively I mean)...yet you don't hear/read that caveat anywhere...your comment just triggered that issue for me even though not directly related. :)

They're 22nd in sacks allowed and 16th in sack%.

I suspect most of those sacks are attributed to Aaron Rodgers and not their OL.

At times Rodgers gets himself into trouble holding the ball to long and dancing around the pocket.

Yea, to some extent, but he probably gets away from a whole bunch as well.

I don't think we're going to get many (if any) sacks since it's virtually impossible to sack Aaron Rogers, but I still think the pass rush will be a factor for sure.

We don't necessarily need to sack him, though it would be nice. Just get in his face enough so that he never has more than 3-4 seconds to get the ball out, and I think we'll be OK. It's when you give Rogers 4, 5, 6+ seconds back there with no pressure that he will slaughter you.

They're 22nd in sacks allowed and 16th in sack%.

Did not realize this, I always thought Rogers was one of the least-sacked guys in the league. I guess it's part of his demi-god reputation.

The only factor that ends this debate is the final score. Nothing else said or posted will change that fact. Loser goes home, winner keeps going. No one is going to care if you have 6 sacks of 60 sacks if you lose.

We also played a bunch of terrible offenses over the last 6 games.

The offensive lines we faced in those games finished second, third, 10th, 15th, 17th and 18th in adjusted sack rate allowed. The WORST of the bunch was actually average in adjusted sack rate allowed (6.1 percent).

Sacks can be misleading as a stat. I'd rather have a ton of pressure on Rodgers with no sacks than have two sacks but no pressure on other plays.

Rodgers gets sacked a lot because he hangs onto the ball trying to extend plays. He was sacked 35 times this season and was sacked 5 times on Sunday against the Giants. All the sacks and pressures still couldn't stop him from putting up over 360 yards and 4 TD's. It's the second half of big games that scare the hell out of you with him because that's when he starts heating up. He did that on Sunday and against us in the playoffs in 2014. He was a little off in the first half and caught fire in the second half. Once he catches fire, it's over!

Yeah I was going to say......Aside from the Eagles most of those teams were in playoff contention until week 16 or 17 of the NFL season and probably would've made the playoffs if it wasn't for us beating them. So yeah I can't say we played a bunch of weak opponents.

Offensive DVOA Rank

Washington - 5th
Minnesota - 26th
New York - 22nd
Tampa Bay - 18th
Detroit - 15th
Philly - 20th

Adjusted sack rate is a horrible attempt at trying to better quantify OL quality because it tries to put a tangible value to intangible things (i.e. teams rush the passer harder when they're leading).

It's a particularly pointless stat here, because the OP is talking about nothing but sack volume.

Sacks aren't misleading they result in a loss and with Rodgers you have to get him on the ground. He can avoid pressure we saw that on Sunday, there's no QB in the league better at extending plays and finding receivers than Rodgers. He had all 15 seconds against the Giants on one play, biding time avoiding pressure to throw a TD. The way Rodgers is playing right now there's no QB in the league harder to defend than him. It takes pressure from all angles to try and corral him. You have to do what Denver did in the SB against Cam last season to try and defend Rodgers.

You have to have pressure coming from different angles and get him on the ground. Pressure can lead to bad throws/INT's but with Rodgers you have to sack him or he'll stay alive and shred you. You can't bank that he's going to be off like he was against us earlier in the season. We only sacked him once in week 6 but he was missing throws. Even though he was off he still completed 74% of his passes for 294 yards but he only had one TD.
