I'm sure you and Norv will work through it together.

The violin is for you fella :) I was right, you were wrong. I know its tough for you to handle, but thats the reality of it, just like I told you last week, the facts just aren't on your side.

Nrv put that team into position to win against a very good Colts team. He deserves credit just as he deserves credit for completely turning that team around after the beginning of the season.

I'll give him credit for getting the victory in the playoffs.

I'm not going to give him credit for turning anything around though. He inherited a 14-2 team. The only notable acquisition he made was Chris Chambers. Other than that, he's coaching the same players Schottenheimer left him.

No to mention, if they'd faced the Pats in the first round this year like they did last year, does anyone really think they wouldn't be sitting at home right now?

Look, sweetheart - if you want some validation, bump your Norv-Turner appreciation thread and we'll talk. Quit wasting time in this thread with your ridiculous hard-on for all things Norval.

I understand that. What im saying was that the team was not playing well. They beat the Bears and then kinda tanked for a bit. Lt has a few pressers where he looked like he was coming out of his skin and was obviously VERY unhappy. The situation was ripe for a meltdown.

The conventional wisdom on Turner is that players turn on him and he cannot keep a team together. its always been the knock on him.

The fact that he took that team out of that situation and has been going on this tear goes completely against that notion

Your bashing him on hypotheticals.

I agree with you Choc, that the Patriots were a tough draw last year. But, you gotta admit that the Chargers were at home, and the Patriots were not what they are this year.

Also, that wasn't the first time that Marty S had been to the playoffs with the Chargers and they had suffered 1st game defeats each time.

I don't know how beating the defending Super Bowl Champs, in their stadium, without your best RB for almost the entirety of the game, with a hobbled TE for the entirety of the game, and without your QB in the 4th Quarter when you take the lead for good, can be seen as anything but a great job of play calling.

Do I think the Chargers beat the Patriots this week? No. If they had faced them in the first round would they have been out? Yes.

I'm just saying it was a nice job, especially after all the criticism Turner has taken as a head coach.

Btw, trivia question. The Commanders have only had 1 HC who has a winning record under Danny Snyder. Who was it? Norv Turner. A .586 pct. Note, that wasn't his pct during his entire time in Washington, just under Snyder, but it is an interesting note.

I still hope that we take Jason Garrett here instead of Wade Phillips. But if Garrett goes, I don't think that Norm Chow would be a bad choice at all.

Norm Chow runs a west coast offense.

Im not a big fan of that style of offense.

I don't think it's a WC offense. I found a snippet from Carson Palmer when Norm came on board at UCS. Here is a blurb..

CP: They're completely different. The West Coast offense is an NFL-style offense. It's very complex and takes a while to learn. Coach Chow's offense is very different. It's very basic. He pretty much taught it to me in two weeks. The West Coast offense takes three years to learn. We've already put in everything we have in Coach Chow's offense. In this new offense, there's no seven-step drops. Everything is about getting rid of the ball quick. If you hitch twice, you're wrong in this offense. In the West Coast offense, you're taking a lot of five-step drops and hitching a couple times and trying to find the third guy. This offense, all you're doing is dropping back and getting rid of the ball as fast as you can.

Didn't Pete Caroll pretty much try to run Chow off because of personality clashes at USC too? He seems like such a quiet, unassuming guy but he's starting to develop a pattern.

Heck yeah bring him to Dallas. If JG leaves then I say go get Chow JJ.

I would love to see his offense light it up here in BigD.

Norv called a great offensive game... They had like 2 screens that went for 40 plus yards at key moments of the game. He kept the defense of the Colts totally off balance.

One thing about Norv, when he is at his best at offensive play-calling, he is one of the best...

Isn't that anti-thesis to what they are doing now. We have some pretty vertical routes that take a long time to develop...

He is such a good guy. Brilliant offensive mind.
I still wish we had hired him as coach at Hawaii.

which is ironic cause he could never execute a screen while he was here.
