Norm: I don't believe Jerry Jones will let this team be disciplined

I see, the old "injuries and other issues" argument. Guess what? All teams have injuries. That team fell apart in crunch time and there was ZERO reason to bring Wade back.

You act like Jerry changed once he hired Parcells, but the day Parcells left, Jerry went back to being large and in charge. In fact, he hired Garrett before he even hired a HC, much like he operated in the late 90's when he controlled the coaching staff and ruled his puppets.

Wade was brought in for one main reason, Jerry wanted to continue the 3-4 that Parcells installed and Wade was a 3-4 coach. Much like Gailey was mainly and OC with a HC title, Wade was brought here mainly to be a DC and given the HC title. Garrett, Houck, Campo were all Jerry hires.

This team is digressing and unless we get another strong HC in here with pull like Parcells had or better yet, like Jimmy had, then we will continue to digress. Jerry's "way" isn't working and never has worked. We've only had success when someone like Jimmy or Parcells were here. We had some residue success immediately after both left, but eventually it falls apart.

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT FOR EVERY FAN TO UNDERSTAND THIS UTTER AND COMPLETE TRUTH?

So many Jerry apologists in this fanbase. It's rather sickening. Jimmy and Parcells were football guys. Jerry had a hand in a lot of the great decisions, but half those ideas probably wouldn't have even been entertained had the right minds not been around. This franchise is headed south fast and it's a shame because a descent coach and a gone form of Jerry is all it would take.

I can't see any player that needs to be benched that Jerry feels so strongly about that he'd step in for.

That's my question, too. Was Norm giving recent examples of this or something? Why was this just coming up tonight when Norm has a show every weekday of the year to talk about this stuff?

And for people who say seats will be empty, etc... Nope, the coaches will get the blame. Jerry will just hire Holmgren next year and there will be lots of ads about the Walrus being in town and how he won a Superbowl by taming Romo's idol Fav-ruh and how happy days are here again. Faith will be renewed for a few more years and there'll be plenty of attention and $$$ for Jerry.

cl norm mentions this twice a week, its nothing new.

I dont think holmgren will come here. Jerry has said 3 times now that jason garrett is in the family portrait. I really believe jerry has no intrest in paying a holmgren/shanahan/gruden/cowher etc.. for past success.

I think he has the mindset that it didnt work with parcells and that is that. he will do it his way until it works again.

he sounded drunk on his pregame interview with kristie scales today, all he talked about was the arkansas game, the videoboard and the stadium and how much fun it was to get to do that piece with kenny mayne and how he doesnt mind poking fun at himself on espn because it brings exposure to the team.

And that guy is in charge. When all this mess is sorted out at the end of the year, he is making the decisions. I would be willing to bet he brings in a holmgren or someone like that to evaluate garrett before ultimately hiring garrett.

anyway, I thought wade called one of his best games today, It felt like he was in the offensive huddle, yet our team still cant play defense for 60 minutes. Not sure if you saw but keith brooking was very vocal about this very thing after the game saying we can't play great for 59 minutes and terrible for the last one because the end result is all that matters.

Its startling to brooking's attitude compared to bradie james.

Well, I hope not. You know what I think of Garrett. I don't think he even grasps basic concepts on offense yet.

It's funny, all game today I was thinking of making a thread: "I want Parcells back....

.... for offensive coordinator!"

Why? Because Parcells -- and many others of lesser fame -- understand how you have to manage the quarterback, especially when he's not at his best. When it was 10-0 and we were backed up late in the first half, I told my buddy, "Now let's just run the ball or throw short passes here. If we have to punt, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with punting! But the one thing we can't do is turn the ball over here." And sure enough, Romo is sacked and fumbles and they get the ball inside our 10 and score a TD. It's crazy when our D is playing well and we have one of the best punters in football -- at altitude, no less -- to always be so aggressive.

So if we fail this year, I think we HAVE to have a new voice other than Garrett. Maybe Shanahan would work, too, I don't know. But I don't see how it can be Garrett as long as Romo keeps turning the ball over. Because as some coach told Romo on his way out the door, "You can't turn the ball over, son. You just can't do it."

Wow Lab, you mirrored what I told my GF.

Was basically the same thing. I said let's take what we can get, throw the ball away if nothing is there, and punt.

Yeah it's boring, but it beats a sack fumble.

I agree. I like garrett though.

However, just like last offseason I had no problems with everyone being cleaned out. Unfortunately or fortunately that didnt happen. Time will tell.

I just really dont get the sense that Jerry is going to go get one of those guys unless the wheels totally come off and we win 5 or 6 games and finish behind the lowly Commanders. then maybe jerry goes to a proven guy.

I cant say honestly that I want any of them. I love the idea of cowher because he surrounds himself with outstanding assistant coaches. Problem with that is will he get to hire them? And the reality that he would never take part in the jerry side show with this stadium and a reality star on the practice squad.

Now I definitely think holmgren/shanahan and or gruden would. What kind of staff would they put together though? I dont trust any of them to hire a staff, I trust holmgren to hire an offensive staff, in fact I think peete and sherman would stay aboard with any of these hires. But defensively Not one of them has a clue on how to put together a defensive staff.

I just really hope the wheels do not come off, but in my gut I feel like they will when we play better teams.

One more thing on this that I forgot above... I happened to hear Jerry on that pregame show, and to me he always sounds drunk like that -- maybe not literally drunk, but drunk on the excitement of the game. I don't even know why they do that Owners Show, because Jerry usually seems so distracted and even more rambling than he normally is.

I was flipping around and also caught the excellent Ticket pregame when Sturm talked to Todd Archer for about 10 minutes. Sturm was asking this very thing about whether Todd thought Garrett had any kind of governor on him, because it didn't seem like it to him. Todd said they rarely get to speak to Garrett except for after his workout before lunch in the hall, but Garrett just agrees with every question so there's nothing of value said anyway. But Archer agreed that Garrett seemed to have free reign, and that's why Wade wanted Dan Reeves to help him. Of course, Jerry manged to throw a monkey wrench in that deal.

Here we go, you people are nuts. Always blaming Jerry, that is the dumbest stuff I hear, surely you people are smarter than that?

Wade Phillips is a 9-7 coach, in 07 that was a fluke, he is a 9-7 coach. He is a great coordinator not a HC, some people just cannot be a HC. We have seen it time and time again, with allof Jimmy's old coordinators.

A team will take on the personality of it's HC, and ours has done just that, we do not even have a player on offense or defense to even combat his good natured personality.

On defense we need a player with the mentality of a Ray Lewis, Brian Dawkins, Polomalu, Merriman, we have these nice guys on our team, with nice personalities, they do not know how to leave that in the locker room till after the game.

The only thing you can blame on Jerry is the hiring of Wade. NOrm is an idiot, that guy will argue with people, no he will hang up on you if you disagree with him and then he will argue with himself on the radio, and call people all kinds of names.

But he is a bum radio person that thinks he knows a lot, but he is clueless, and he has a vendetta against Jerry, that is why he likes to place the blame at Jerry's feet, and the Donovan is just a but kisser, that is why he is still on with Norm, you see Larry Brown moved on, he cannot stand Norm

Ironically I heard that too. I only flip on the 105.3 pregame about 20 minutes before kickoff, Jagger and richie whitt are complete morons.

This team has played the same way since 1996, it amazes me to see people still supporting a medeling Owner whom has never done anything for this Franchise except stab it in the back. He's elbow deep in every Dallas Cowboys fans back right now as we speak.

Some fans are apparently bigger fans of Jerry Jones than they are of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry will get it when his new stadium is empty.

Jerry Jones has had the same rusty butcher knife in your back since he bought this franchise, he left that knife in your backs last year when he declared Coach CupCaker for this season before Philly wiped the field with this weakminded CremePuff tidlywinks baby diaper bunch of whiney pocket filled losers.

With all of the current Garrett disgust, one would think TO was right.

Oh, did I just go there?
