...and he's right: The Tuna should have stood up in front of the local media and explained himself to the fans of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas media pure sucks. I wouldn't explain any thing to them either.
He owed Jones an explination. I think he gave that to him.

Maybe its different for people that actually watch Dallas press confereces daily, but for 99.9% of the fanbase everyone gets their news from ESPN, SI.com or their local paper. In that case, there isn't much difference from a press conferece, a press release, or a simple e-mail.

When has Parcells done anything remotely like what other coaches are SUPPOSED to do?

I have no problem with him not speaking to the local media. They ripped him to shreds after the Seattle game. They ripped him throughout his tenure. They ripped him while he decided whether to return or not. I wouldn't necessarily rush to stand in front of them either to tell them of my decision. I imagine he and Jerry spoke at length before deciding how they were going to deliver the news.

And it's not like he hasn't spoken to the media or provided an explanation. He just hasn't spoken to THEM.

I don't know that he I can say he owed anybody anything. I would probably say that it would have been nice but in the end, he owed Jerry Jones, his coaches and the players. The fans have not always been all that kind to Bill Parcells so I can see where he might have just said, don't owe you a thing.

The other side of this is that we don't know that Bill is stepping out of the picture in Dallas 100% anyhow. The plan might still be to be active in the organization, who knows?

Either way, it would have been better had he made a statement to the fans but he didn't. No big deal to me.

not to mention he did the same with the pats for the most part.

Norm has to realize that stations like the ticket and espn1033 arent exactly serious sports stations, and they dont really have sports people.

Norm is the only real sports guy in this market. However he works for a station that makes fun of real sports guys and people who love sports.

I mean what does he expect parcells is going to come on with bad radio and have a smell ya later drop played while he is talking? Or on with the hardline so they can play the i was with your mother last night etc....

He could have had a pc with everyone but, what would that do. Not much they would just beat him over the head with owens questions. Who wants to deal with that.

This in a nutshell is why the Dallas media and Parcells never got along. The Dallas media always feels it's 'owed' something. They felt they were owed a comment on TO joining the team. They were owed an answer to BP's future immediately. It's this crazy attitude that in part drove BP out. If you really look at it the media had more to do with BP 'retiring' than anything. Who has the energy at 65 to get hammered daily about the same tired issues?

Bill is still here helping jerry out, even in his resignation he is helping to make this team better. I could give a hoot whether he got up on TV and told a buncha reporters a thing.

Because they are terrible. they don't want to get their own stories or chase them down themselves. Just last night Hos wrote some thing about Garrett and low and behold the Mickster has it up hours later.
I swear they read this forum to get their news.:D

I've got to agree with Norm.

In addition to providing them with fodder in a slow news period, Parcells should have been willing to change their diapers and wipe their arses. After all, they're far too busy trashing every decision he and the organization have ever made to manage that themselves. WFAN got an interview, and poor The Ticket couldn't swing it.

These grapes sure are sour.

Do an interview with the New York media (which is basically the National Media anyway)who still reveres him.

or

Do an interview with the Dallas media that has raked him over the coals that asks ******** question after retarted question day after day?

Tough Choice;)

that is not the reason.

The only reason is he is a personal friend with mike francessa. The guy only has a handful of media friends, peter king is another and will mcdonough is another and he has passed away.

Parcell has been on with mike and chris many times.

I don't agree with Norman. I think the interview he gave to Mike and the Mad Dog answered most of the questions I had about his departure. Besides if he gave one to the Dallas media, how many stupid JFE TO questions can he answer ???

Heres how it might have went.

Parcells: Well fellas Ive called it a career, I took the time I felt I needed to make this decision and I feel I can't go through the grind of football twelve months a year any more.

media: Did owens force you out.

Parcells: No

Media: Did owens force you out

Parcells NO

over and over and over.

this is just a simple of issue of those who don't like Parcells, or respect him, being upset because BIll hasn't spoken directly to them, and those who may not have liked everything about BP, but at least respected him, not caring all that much if he speaks to us directly, or indirectly
