Gee, I said the exact same thing last week and was savaged. Great minds ...

Bill has done that, he did not do in with the Dallas media (Dallas media is not the voice of the fans) but he has explained himself. I don't expect him to contact each and every one of us, but he made his statement as to his reason for stepping down.

Well if that was acceptable for you then thats fine but for me it wasn't.

The day of or the day after he said he was done he should have stood up on that podium one last time and took questions from the Dallas Media in my opinion.

Its not a big deal but I think he owed it to all of us to stand up there and look into the camera and answer the Dallas Medias questions and not the New York Medias questions concerning our team.

Kind of like when my girlfriend of 3 and a half years broke up with me last year:

1) via txt message
2) while I was at work
3) on our monthly anniversary date when I had already bought her something
4) the weekend before I had final exams at school

No offense, but you dated the SAME GIRL for 3 1/2 YEARS, and were STILL duped into the "monthly anniversary" scam, complete with GIFTS!?!

I'm beginning to see the problem. ;)

Its not about the Dallas media its about explaining things to the Dallas fans like you and I and we deserved that.

I love Parcells but he owed us that and he isnt going to give it to us.

Im not going to make a big deal about it but thats definetely something he owed us the fans.
Kinda with Dooms here. He has spoken out at length about his decision to retire with two national media outlets. It may not have been a public, cameras flashing event in front of the local media, but I think what he's stated so far is sufficient.

Did you see the recap of his WFAN interview. There's a more lengthy one added to the thread if you missed. I think he addressed many of the questions that fans would've wanted answered.

Well he didn't. What he did do was talked with the man who was paying him to do a job he owed that and did that. He also gave his reason why he was stepping down everyone here has read that so what more do you want? Dallas Media made a big enough joke of themselves over the last few years and Parcells owes them nothing so if they were scooped by some other media outlet that is no big deal to me. As I said Dallas News is not the voice of the fans. Having said that is some fans are upset over Bill not taking with the Dallas Media well sorry.

Yeah I saw that but it still wasnt enough for me.

I think he should have stood up there and answered the questions of our own hometown media.

I think had he won a Superbowl and retired he would have done that but since he kind of limped out of the game its like he didnt want to be seen.

I understand if Parcells wanted to do that but for the average Cowboy fan and not the Hardcore Cowboy fans like us it wasn't enough to go on some radio show in New York.

even as much as i disliked parcells - this is just bogus. no one owes "the media" a thing in this regard. he and jerry jones need to be cool with it and that's pretty much it. it would be nice, it would be an "extra" if he went the extra mile, but why? it's over and it would really serve nothing in a positive light anyway.

i like norm but he needs a better reason than to think he's personally owed anything by parcells.

Got no problem with them doing their jobs. I think him not doing an Exit PC was Parcells way at thumbing his nose at the Dallas media one last time, especially if Jerry didn't require him to do a PC.

For some of us, it was enough. Would I have wanted him to do a final PC? Sure. Forget who he gave the interview to and just go by what he said. Last year he was ripped for not speaking to the media until the draft or so. This year he's ripped for not speaking to the Dallas media, even though he's spoken at length about his retirement...

As soon as he gave his resignation, he was no longer professionally affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys and was no longer under any obligation to stand in front of anyone and offer an explation of why he's retiring. I think I would've been a bit more perturbed had he not said anything at all. But the fact that he has and that he's still in Dallas assisting Jerry in some capacity has satisfied my expectations.

Norm is off his rocker

I have been very critical of Parcells the past yr+, but he didnt need to go in front of a lynch mob to "explain himself"...the man deserves more respect than that...

I agree, I just can't help but feel if the shoe had been on the other foot, and he was dismissed. The local phone lines would have been burning up.

And for some to say he didn't like the local media, or was treated badly by them, compared to what goes on on the E-coast, is ludicrous.

We should just bomb New Jersey.

Down with Jason Garrett, and down with Princeton. What has Princeton given the world anyways, besides good team-inside-out-basketball? Plus, he has red hair.

Carpetbagger.

that is not the reason.

The only reason is he is a personal friend with mike francessa. The guy only has a handful of media friends, peter king is another and will mcdonough is another and he has passed away.

Parcell has been on with mike and chris many times.

If you dont think this has to do with Northeast vs Dallas then you are kidding yourselves.

He never acclimated to the fans and the city and that was painfully obvious to the media in Dallas.

His comment about 'The city of Dallas overvalues the Cowboys' really ticked me off as if New Yorkers dont do the same thing with regard to the Yankees.

And as far as you saying The Ticket and ESPN103.3 are not serious. Was that a statement made in jest or were you being serious?

Norm is a very well respected and insightful Radio Personality, where the Manager of the Rangers, Owner of the Cowboys and Mavericks, HC of the Mavericks and a host of other "important" people come on a regular basis.

But of course, The Tuna is too good for old Poe Dunk Dallas  .
