Normally failure creates change

'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. '
Welcome to the Cowboys looney bin!!
We do the same thing over and over because the results are exactly what we are looking for. You as the fan may not be getting what you want but the players and management most certainly are.

For narcissists, not doing what they want to do--even in the face of a better alternative--is like pulling all their teeth without anesthesia. That said, Stephen Jones would not pose a problem if Jerry Jones finally did the right thing for his franchise. DNA Kid #1 would fall in line and accept his father's decision. He's a follower, not a leader.

Agreed.

And it’s worked out so well for the team’s success hasn’t it?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for better results. If they're not going to hire a GM, they should atleast hire external consultants to tell them what they should be doing then they can still take credit.

I will say the Williams trade was a nice add, but will be a total waste without a competent defensive mind and adding investing at LB and secondary.

It's not just roster building. Until the Joneses stop acting like quasi-head coaches with the final say on gameplan & who plays, it's not going to work. 30 years proves it in spades. They could build the NFL's best roster, and the 2 of them would still undermine whoever the coach was. More than likely, even an elite roster, something we haven't had since the mid 90s, won't overcome them.

They tried. Jerry ran Reeves out of town.

I say this over and over and over you guys need to wrap your heads around what failure actually looks like. You might think this season has been a failure. We have a QB who leads the league in yards. We had the most prime time games and probably highest viewership. We had a WR that was talked about all season. Massive trades involving "big time" stars that was the talk all season. Jersey sales through the roof. Ticket prices through the roof. More fun than you could ever possibly hope for. If you think in any way shape or form that this season was not a massive success for this franchise then you need to wake up and start paying attention.
Where we differ is definition of success. I believe an NFL team’s success is always tied to winning. If you have a different definition that’s fine.

And I agree that every Cowboys season is fun. Even the bad seasons. But I cannot count a season as “successful” when we don’t make the playoffs. And when we’ve only made the playoffs 42% this century. That’s not success to me.

Jersey and ticket sales? Meh. Wins? Everything. Again that’s just my take.

The only way a losing season can be counted as successful is if a team ends up w/ multiple 1st round draft picks. The Jets, for instance, had a very successful season.

And this draft apparently has two very highly rated Qbs in Mendoza and Sayin. Jets might have finally picked the right time to tank.

Jerry Jones' oversight of football operations has not been and will highly likely never be conducive in re-establishing a championship caliber culture. Bill Parcells came close despite Jones' interaction, but close will never be good enough UNLESS good luck intervenes.

Name, grade, and pedigree are irrelevant. To use his own words, Jerry Jones will most likely not go 'all in' (e.g., move heaven and earth) to draft a quarterback with a first-round pick, as long as he supports a franchise quarterback currently on his roster. I doubt he would pull the trigger if he held the number one overall pick.

Eddie I hear what you’re saying, but how does Philly afford to make all those moves and keep all those players while paying Hurts $51 million?

Or the chargers, bills, and even the jaguars who are going to make the playoffs while paying their QBs over $50 million a yr? The 11-3 rams just extended Stafford two more years at nearly $50 million a year. How are they doing it?

Dak is overpaid for sure but not much more than many of the QBs who are on teams loaded with talent and headed to the playoffs. Besides, who decided to pay Dak $60 million a yr?
It's because their Cap guys are professional, knowledgeable and dedicated 24/7 to working the cap to their teams advantage. Our cap guy is a fat, bloated, unqualified nepo baby who couldn't get even the lowest level job in the other 31 front offices

"Unique advantage"

"Nobody can do it better"
It’s Orwellian doublespeak. What they said is above and what they know for a fact is below:

•”Unique disadvantage” (Jones family ownership & management)
• “Anybody could do better!” (but since we’re dealing with a senile drunken narcissist & nepo-baby kids, expect no change)

Glad this year was a success for you. It's why Jerry can print money.
