Crown Royal said:Noone disagrees that Burnett's playing weight will increase. In fact, you bring up a good point - Burnett will probably be much bigger, by next season. In fact, I, like most I am sure, think that Al will probably be gone, next season.
But the issue is this season, specifically, game one. I have no idea who will be starting, but I will be pretty perplexed to see one of only 2 vet LBers not on the roster, starting or not, because we have a rookie who hasn't yet filled out to his full playing weight.
Noone debates that Burnett is the future - I sure hope he is, because that would just be better for the defense all around. But while Singleton isn't a Pro Bowl LBer, doesn't make a lot of plays, etc., he is an intelligent player who doesn't give up a lot, either. He can be trusted, he knows his assignments, etc. Burnett taking his job makes sense. Cutting him (before the end of the season) doesn't, because he does in fact bring something to the table.
You won't see me argue about whether Al stays or goes this year...I am firmly in the camp that he does stay this year.
I am not defending nors view of al leaving or that al should leave.
At worst IMO al gives us depth, he may not be flashy, he may not make huge plays, but with a core of your LBs he is one of the few who will not constantly be learning and in turn out of position.
However I was just explaining why nors would be bringing up old articles, why he could claim burnett at the same size right now is better in his opinion.
So many times people argue with nors and lose all sense of logic because they let him get to them...many times I see people reply to nors instead of replying to nors posts.
I was just explaining one or two aspects of his post....does not mean I am defending him or wanting al gone...big difference and when it comes to nors and those that post with an obsession with nors that tends to get lost.
