Noone disagrees that Burnett's playing weight will increase. In fact, you bring up a good point - Burnett will probably be much bigger, by next season. In fact, I, like most I am sure, think that Al will probably be gone, next season.

But the issue is this season, specifically, game one. I have no idea who will be starting, but I will be pretty perplexed to see one of only 2 vet LBers not on the roster, starting or not, because we have a rookie who hasn't yet filled out to his full playing weight.

Noone debates that Burnett is the future - I sure hope he is, because that would just be better for the defense all around. But while Singleton isn't a Pro Bowl LBer, doesn't make a lot of plays, etc., he is an intelligent player who doesn't give up a lot, either. He can be trusted, he knows his assignments, etc. Burnett taking his job makes sense. Cutting him (before the end of the season) doesn't, because he does in fact bring something to the table.

You won't see me argue about whether Al stays or goes this year...I am firmly in the camp that he does stay this year.

I am not defending nors view of al leaving or that al should leave.

At worst IMO al gives us depth, he may not be flashy, he may not make huge plays, but with a core of your LBs he is one of the few who will not constantly be learning and in turn out of position.

However I was just explaining why nors would be bringing up old articles, why he could claim burnett at the same size right now is better in his opinion.

So many times people argue with nors and lose all sense of logic because they let him get to them...many times I see people reply to nors instead of replying to nors posts.

I was just explaining one or two aspects of his post....does not mean I am defending him or wanting al gone...big difference and when it comes to nors and those that post with an obsession with nors that tends to get lost.

Those chasing "Nors" on this one are not paying attention to the changes BP is doing and what he's looking to do. 150 miles an hour and bearing down on the gas pedal and they don't see the concrete barrior around the bend. Just a matter of time to the crash.

the best was watching the gang try and defend the right side of the Oline last season because I said it sucked! Classic

Lets bury this.

Howard is still a Saint. It was in the works, it was a big topic supposedly at Valley Ranch, it was going to happen at owners meetings, then by the draft......
In case you hadn't noticed, and it appears you haven't, everyone on the board except YOU has buired that topic. Months ago in fact. You cared about it more than the entire rest of the forum put together. The only person on this forum who brings this subject up is you. If you want it buried all you have to do is get over it.

Take a deep breath, purge the bad air, and tell yourself, "I don't need to bring up Darren Howard every day."

All better?

BTW, I know you bring him up thinking people are insulted. Trust me when I say they aren't. Just amused that you're still hung up on him.

Yes - my point was he really was an undersized 4-3 DE. Yes on the Burnett weight angle.

Also brought up the article to point out he was a career backup. This is not a blue chip VETERAN to cornerstone this D. I don't see a role for him. Burnett is going to play. I'm not cutting 3-4 guys like Ogbogu and Thornton for a bad fit.
If vet OLB is needed - he's on another roster right now.....

Regarding Ogbogu - I just noticed a post that said his job isn't too secure. This is from Parcells. I personally don't see what we gain by cutting him either (and I hope we don't). But my point is, Parcells has said nothing of the sort regarding Singleton.

Parcells exact words were, "Ogbogu will be playing in the NFL this year, teams are interested."

He went on to say Ogbogu was our 3rd best edge rusher behind Ware and Ellis, but is pretty much a specialist who can give you some ST plays.

Sounds to me like we'd like to trade him for a late round pick.

I don't blame him for milking it months later. It's the last thing he's actually been right about.

Ogbogu makes team! Parcells says he has value. Also said Thornton was dinged.

Ogs stays! Pass rushers at OLB - We need that. And he can swing to 4-3 DE!

For verytime Ty Law comes up........ I deserve a couple Howard digs.

Back to Als - he's in a world of trouble if he does nothing today and Burnett steps up.

And you're in a world of trouble if Al plays well. Actually I doubt it matters much. Parcells will want veteran presence.

For what it's worth, I think you'll end up being right about Romo locking down the #2 QB spot.

I'm curious what do you make of Parcells' "Ogbogu will play somewhere in the NFL" statement.

At face value it sounds like he's getting the boot. Or was it just another Parcells ploy to keep outsiders guessing?

I 100% agree - he does value veteran presence. Als is not only competing with Burnett but every Veteran LB on other rosters.......

What appears a "he's cut" comment only cements what he stated with rest of his comments. Og's as a pass rusher at his size has VALUE to other teams. I sense other yeams are trying to acquire him.....

He then said Thornton has physical issues.....not sure if he could count on him.

Ogs, Als - the battle in the desert.

I'll take a shot at that, Waffle.

It means Og gets traded back to NY for Jon Abraham.

News flash

Burnett has a sack and a forced fumble. That battle is about over..... Anyone else notice #51 playing ST last night on NFL network?

Romo entrenched at #2. Nors right again. Hensonites, how do you spin that?
