You guys are right, the Eagles had plenty of guys on their team who liked T.O. and they completely cratered this year after cutting him. I guess it was because they lost all respect for Andy Reid.

Boy, I'd hate to have a crap year like they had this year.
SPIN, SPIN, SPIN. That team was dead on arrival this year with McNabb as QB. They finally got their act together when Jeff Garcia of all people took over leadership of that team.

And the reason the Eagles let Owens go was because it came down to a pissing match between he and the QB. Did you also happen notice that the Eagles improved as a team not when they cut Owens but when McNabb went out?

Considering that he's never worked with Owens, IF Turner becomes the HC and cuts Owens, what message does that sent to the rest of the team; That he makes personnel decisions based on the whims of a few vocal message board morons and the propaganda spewing forth from Bristol?

That oughtta be good for moral.

among many cowboys fans and accross the league. Jerry would not be happy...but I think it would send a clear message that Norv is completely in control. I just hope Norv has someone he can get to fill that void. TO bonus is due on March 1st....so we should find out who is really running the show soon once Norv is announced as HC.

For the record,I think Glenn's bonus is due in March and T.O.'s is due in June.

But the point is, do you think Reid lost credibility among his players by getting rid of him? Of course not.

And whether a player is liked or not means nothing. Plenty of troublemakers are "liked". Players might not even want to see T.O. gone on a personal level.

But like Gaede said, if Norv got rid of T.O. when even Bill Parcells couldn't or wouldn't, it would at least let the players know that maybe Norv isn't the spineless wuss of a leader they've heard about.

And he would not talk to the OC. Don't forget that little tidbit either. It was not just a pissing match with Donovan - Everyone likes to simplify it after it is done.

How does a new coach gain respect/credibility by coming in and firing his biggest offensive threat?

Exactly what I was thinking AND when the players have gone out of their way to say he is a good teammate...

Cuttin TO sight unseen wouldn't gain him any credibility. How could anyone respect such a thing? You are blinded by your TO hate.

Different situation. Eagles had to cut him because of the situatoin. I think the players understood that.

T.O. did nothing in Dallas to justify getting cut.

yep, TO didn't want to be an Eagle anymore, and wanted more money

he wants to return here and is making a boatload of money, plus Jerry Jones isn't averse to handing out bonuses to keep his players while Philly hardly re-signs any of their's

My feelings about T.O. have nothing to do with it.

The fact is, though, that if Norv convinced Jerry to get rid of such a high-profile player, it would show the players that Norv had a lot more power than they might have realized. You don't think they've heard about Charles Woodson walking all over him, or the talk about Jerry hiring a puppet? Sure they have. This would dispel that notion quicker than just about anything, unless Jerry let it be known that it was all his own decision.

And just to clarify my feelings about T.O., do I think he's the Antichrist? No. Do I think he singlehandedly brought down the Eagles? No. Do I think he's causing global warming? No. Do I think ESPN focuses too much on his every move? Sure. But do I think he causes subtle divisions and distractions in the team with all his antics? Yes. And I'm not the only one, either. Anyone who listened to Parcells' conference calls with other media could hear in his voice that while he "tried to make it work as best he could" etc, T.O. was a major pain in the butt a lot of the time.

What would your grounds be for cutting TO? Forget the "distraction" excuse. If your cutting your biggest weapon you better have a good reason and a new coach like Norv would not have one. Which would lose him credibility if anything. I think its pretty obvious CL that your feelings about TO has everything to do with why you want him cut.

Cutting T.O. doesn't make Norv a better coach.

We're doomed .

IMO:(

If you took my reply to Hos as me saying Hos is being factual. Then you had no understanding of the post anyways. You took my tongue n cheek reply as fact and I was just showing a point how ones agenda can be spun to try and get across said agenda as factual. When - it is just BS opinion. Kinda like yours here friend.

BTW: My Nors funny was completly lost on you. Some just get it. Some never will.

You say getting rid of Owens would give Turner instant credibility, ... what makes you think Turner even wants to get rid of Owens.

Maybe he wants T.O. on his team.

Did you ever think of that? Just because you don't want him doesn't mean Turner doesn't.

Get used to it haters, T.O. is a Cowboy in '07.

:bravo:

I have no agenda here, because I would not be in favor of letting TO go at this point. I was not for bringing him in, but I don't think he has done anything worthy of getting rid of him now that he is here.

You blasted Chocalate for stating an opinion, without saying IMO and then when Hostile did the same thing, about the exact same issue (players liking or disliking him) you say and I Quote...

"There you go again with that sane rational approach of yours."

You figure it out Einstein!

Just so it's not lost on you, your response to players disliking TO was...

"You have zero idea how our player base feels about T.O."

This is so laughable! I am going to get people to play hard for me by cutting a very good player....yeah right this makes alot of sense. The only way this works is in the military and NFL players have to many options for this approach to work.

players love having playmakers on their team, no coach is going to gain any respect if they cut them, Norv would have to be really paranoid to cut TO

So...Two wrongs make a right? Also I don't care about other players on other teams.

Last time I checked I was not a fan of the Raiders or the other teams.
so its simple blame the media for most of it.

I doubt he'd do that. I doubt Jerry would let him, and if Jerry did, I suspect that most players would feel like it was a setup to make Norv look like a real head coach.

Now that said, I think the team would be happier, although likely not any better.
